Backstage interview with Mark Briscoe.
Renee Paquette is with The Sussex County Chicken, and she knows he is in action tonight against on one of the more insanely gifted athletes in AEW in The One & Only Ricochet. But on a more personal level, she knows MJF is under his skin. Briscoe asks if Renee’s seen MFJ yet tonight. Does she know where he’s at? Ricochet steps in, Gates of Agony at his back, and Ricochet tells Briscoe to just shut up. Briscoe doesn’t need to worry about MJF, he should worry about Ricochet. Because if Briscoe ain’t careful, Ricochet & GOA will send him packing out of Chicago in a coat of his own blood. Just like at Revolution! Does Briscoe remember? Ricochet remembers.
Briscoe tells Ricochet to listen up and be forewarned. Briscoe feels like whole different man, a different animal, than he was back then. He is on a warpath right now, and tonight, he will whoop Ricochet’s ass. But that is just a fraction of what Briscoe has for MJF! MJF done crossed the line! Toa Liona tells Briscoe to show Ricochet some respect! Ricochet says MJF doesn’t matter. See you later tonight, loser. AHA~! Ricochet leads the way out, but will he need Liona & Kaun to help him #ManUp against Briscoe?
MJF speaks backstage.
“Hey it’s me, MJF, from literally the biggest movie on Planet Earth, Happy Gilmore 2, but also your future two-time AEW World Champion. But you already knew that. See, the reason I have the cameraman over here is because there’s some scuttlebutt online that the Hurt Syndicate’s in trouble, and I’m here to quell that.” MJF knocks on the locker room door, and Shelton Benjamin answers. MJF is happy to see “main man” Shelton! MJF just wants to talk about last week. From the bottom of his heart, MJF is so sorry for Bobby’s actions last week. That just made it so awkward for everyone else. But Bob’s out of the equation, it’s just MJF and Shelton, they can focus-
Shelton says before MJF gets into any of that, he should know MVP isn’t here tonight. Oh? Why? Because quite frankly, he is disgusted with MJF. And as far as Bobby goes, um… Does MJF have the time? No, MJF gave Shelton his watch, remember? Oh, right. This watch. It is a nice watch. The nicest watch Shelton’s ever seen… from Temu. But did MJF really think that Shelton didn’t know the difference between a cheap knockoff and the real deal? But thanks to MJF’s show of generosity… The Hurt Syndicate’s been onto MJF’s game the whole time. The only reason MJF didn’t get laid out months ago is because MVP stuck his neck out for him.
So with that in mind, Shelton thinks MJF and his cheap ass watch need to get the hell out of here, before he ends up in a pool of his own piss. Shelton throws the watch down, turns to go to the door, but then says hold on, there’s one more thing. As far as Shelton’s concerned, MJF is OUT! Thumbs down! MJF wants to talk this over but Shelton slams the door shut. MJF tells the cameraman to get out of his face, but is the Scumbag ever going to learn his lesson?
Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
Schiavone says that at All In: Texas, a lot of things happened that had the wrestling world on its ear, but one moment in particular. With that in mind, welcome out… Christian Cage! Chicago is torn as The Patriarch, if he can even be that after The Patriarchy expelled him, goes to the ring. Christian steps into the ring with Schiavone, and Schiavone brings up the apparent dismantling of The Patriarchy. And then, Adam Copeland made his return, and he tells Christian Cage to go find himself. What is Christian’s reaction to all of that? Christian says, “Tony… My name is Christian Cage, and I’m… an a-hole.” The fans cheer him accepting the truth!
The fans chant at him, but Christian continues to say that he is the kind of a-hole that is numb to the world and everything in it. He doesn’t care who is left in his wake, he doesn’t care who gets hurt, he was obsessed with becoming THE AEW World Champion. At Revolution this past Spring in Los Angeles, Christian was ready to fulfill his destiny. He signed the contract, stepped into the ring, hit a picture perfect spear, he looked down and caught a glimpse of his past. And for one split second, Christian became an a-hole with feelings! It cost him everything!
In the days and weeks since, the noise just kept getting louder and louder, until where his own family was questioning him and pointing questions. Christian didn’t realize Nick’s and Kip’s nuts had dropped and gave they the courage to stand up to him. Christian has no problem with that. But he has a problem with them questioning him, because they had not earned the right to question him! When it comes to this business, he’ll put it in these terms. When it comes to this business, he’s spent more money on rental cars just to make towns than either Nick or Kip have made combined in their entire careers!
Now, you wanna know why Christian didn’t stick to the plan? It’s simple: He didn’t think Nick, Kip & Shayna were competent enough to pull it off, so he took a risk! A big risk! Again, he does ask them this: What would they know about taking risks? Sitting in the lap of luxury, riding his coattails while he made enemies left and right with the things he said and did. There’s probably a line going out the door of people waiting to maim him for those things. And as for Adam Copeland, Christian did hear what he said a few weeks ago, when Cope reminded everyone of what Christian did and said to him.
Of how Christian said he would snap Cope’s neck and make him a cripple, right in front of Cope’s children, all with a smile on his face. How he said he would take extra special care of Beth Phoenix when it’d happen. And even the things Christian said about Cope’s mother! But when you think about it, were the things Christian said really that bad? The fans chant “YES!” But Christian knows Cope isn’t going to rush out here, acting like he doesn’t know the game within the game, right? Huh? Cope himself was an opportunist who did some unsavory things just to make it to the top. So maybe Cope should get off his high horse and look at it through that lens.
Because when Cope looks at his back account, and looks at the accomplishments hanging from his wall, surely Cope’s head rests pretty head on that Alaskan King mattress. As for the last time they saw each other, Cope told Christian to go find himself? Maybe Christian did, and maybe he didn’t, but he does know this: Christian and Cope are so different, and yet somehow, they’re the same. Tony asks where does Christian now stand with the Patriarchy? Christian says The Patriarchy embarrassed him at All In when they left him laying. They decided they didn’t need a Patriarch anymore, and Nick even said Christian passed his expiration date.
Well, Shayna was right about one thing: Christian did have a hard time getting up that night. But trust him when he says, he’s found himself in holes before, and none of those were as deep as her. And even then, Christian always managed to claw his way out. Now maybe, The Patriarchy didn’t like how he ruled, but the things he said and did came from a place that was a product of the scars of his past. The things they said and did to him were coming from a place of entitlement. Entitlement that Christian handed to them! Nick thinks he has success now, being ROH World TV Champion, thinking he has it all figured out.
Christian asks Nick this: How is it going to go when Nick has to answer for all those things? What happens when Nick has to actually fight? Say what you want about Christian, but when the bell rings, he shows up and answers for the things that he’s done. Nick, Kip, Shayna… Christian takes a moment to compose himself here, but he wants them to know that Christian will admit this: Nick Wayne does have more talent than Christian; Nick is the Prodigy; and Christian did care about Nick! Christian protected Nick from everything! And Nick has the audacity to call himself the new Face of AEW, now and forever?
Trust Christian when he says this: Nick has every tool to be that, but he’ll have to go through Christian to get there! “Nick Wayne, in your young life, you already have one dead father. And now you have another father that’s just dead to you. Because of this very moment, Nick Wayne & Kip Sabian, I disown you!” Captain Charisma takes his leave, but then Shayna walks out! The fans cheer this standoff, and she goes to slap! Christian blocks that, but he senses the trap! He turns around, Kip backs down, only for Nick to CLOBBER him from the other side! The trap was sussed out and yet it still worked! Nick says Christian can’t disown him when he’s disowned Christian!
The fans boo as Shayna hands her boys chairs! They sit Christian up, and they STANDING CON-CHAIR-TO!! The fans boo as Christian falls in a heap on the stage! Nick says HE turned his back on Christian, first! The fans tell off Nick Wayne, but the damage is done. Will Christian be able to survive in Wayne’s World?
Stokely Hathaway & FTR speak.
#BigStoke says last week on Dynamite, they did it again! FTR is one step closer to the AEW World Tag Team Championships! And Stoke has a message to some people who work here. Adam Copeland, after what you did last week, you are BANNED from the building tonight! And if Stokely had his way, Cope would be banned tomorrow night on Collision, too. Hurt Syndicate, Stoke says what you did last week as an act of cowardice! Everybody knows that if FTR was at 100%, they would’ve whooped Hurt Syndicate’s asses. And lastly, Juice Robinson & Austin Gunn, Gang Bang Gang, just know that tomorrow night on Collision, the semifinals sees you taking on FTR.
And while Juice & Austin are good, they aren’t FTR good. But then in step The Bucks. Long time, no see, huh? Cash Wheeler tells Matt & Nick that they’re happy to see The Bucks got the win tonight, and that things are looking up for them. The Bucks just need to get their groove back, that’s all. Dax Harwood says that the past is the past, and they hope to see The Bucks in the finals. They all shake on that, wishing each other luck. FTR moves on but Stoke hangs back. Quick question: The Bucks aren’t the bosses anymore, right? No, they are not… Then Stoke drops the crutch act! Haha~! Stoke still “hobbles” away, and Matt says everyone is so damn fickle!
The Bucks and FTR are both in the semifinals, but will either team make it to the finals? Or will those final roadblocks to Forbidden Door be too much to overcome?
AEW World Championship: Hangman Page VS Jon Moxley!
AEW security has been doubled because tonight, EVERYONE is banned from ringside! It will just be the Cowboy, the Maniac, and the referee. Will Chicago see some serious #CowboySh*t now that this shootout is 1v1? Or will there be a second reign of terror in our near future?
The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who can deliver as only a true champion can!
The bell rings and the fans already chant for “COWBOY SH*T! COWBOY SH*T!” Moxley and Hangman stare down, then slowly circle. They tie up, go along the ropes and into the corner. The fans boo, Hangman takes as swing, but into a GERMAN SUPLEX! Hangman tumbles to a corner while the fans boo Moxley. Moxley storms over to the ref, brings Hangman up, and he climbs up to dig his knee into Hangman’s face!
The ref reprimands, Moxley taunts the fans, and Moxley rains down fists! The fans count along, Moxley goes past TEN and then DIGS his knuckle into Hangman’s forehead! Moxley brings Hangman out to scoop and SLAM, then covers, ONE!! Hangman is tougher than that but Moxley stalks him. The fans tell Moxley, “You Tapped Out!” Moxley ignores that to JAB! And CHOP! Moxley runs, Hangman ducks, and Hangman scoops to FALL AWAY SLAM!

Moxley bails out again and the fans rally. Hangman pursues, but Moxley CLAWS Hangman’s eyes! The fans boo, but Moxley sends Hangman into the steps! The fans boo more, but Moxley moves the steps around! The ref reprimands, but Moxley drags Hangman up for a FULL METAL PILEDRIVER!! Hangman flops to the floor and the fans lose their minds! Moxley says that’s why he’s the real champ. This is what it takes! This is game day! The ref still reprimands while Dynamite goes to picture in picture.
Moxley leaves Hangman behind to soak up heat in the ring. The ring count climbs but Hangman is still down at 5 of 10. Then we hit 7! 8! Moxley eggs Hangman on, and Hangman leaps in at 9.5! Moxley is on him with a CUTTER! Moxley swaggers around, talks more trash, then stomps Hangman in the stomach. Moxley turns Hangman over and hooks him up in an STF! Hangman endures while Moxley cranks him back! Moxley then shifts to a facelock, and he drags Hangman to a corner. Moxley goes to the back of the line, but will he fight his way back up in no time at all? As for Hangman, who is next for him as he continues his AEW World Championship reign?
Toni Storm & Alex Windsor VS Athena & Billie Starkz!
The AEW Women’s World Champion knows the ROH Women’s World Champion has the Casino Gauntlet contract, which paints a big target on her big backside! But at the same time, Iron-Will Windsor is (platonically) watching Toni’s back. Will Toni & Alex keep things TIIIIIMELESS? Or will the Fallen Goddess, the Minion Overlord, the American Joshi, the ROH Gatekeeper, along with her Minion, make this the moment they strike gold?
The teams sort out and the fans chant, “She is Timeless!” However, Toni allows Windsor to start against Athena as payback for the ROH Women’s World Championship loss last Saturday. Backstage interview with Hangman Page.
Renee congratulates the Cowboy on his successful first defense of the AEW World Championship, that was insane. How is he feeling after facing Moxley again? But then MJF steps in and tells “Seabiscuit” he did a great job retaining “your” title. Another win for the folk hero, the main character! Though last time MJF checked, heroes don’t stab people with forks, but hey, #HangmanDidNothingWrong. But here’s something about last week, Hanger. Hangman called MJF a coward, which MJF finds odd because MJF finds Hangman the coward in this scenario. Hangman refuses to face MJF 1v1 for MJF’s title unless he does it on Hangman’s terms.
Well, guess what? MJF remembers the days of AEW having a real fighting champion! A real man! That was Swerve Strickland. Hangman tells MJF that if he thinks he can goad Hangman into a title match, that is what he goes with? That is what MJF uses? MJF IS going to either earn his title match or use the contract, because there is a LONG line ahead of MJF of men who rightfully deserve a shot. Hangman says one of them is a man he has known for more than a decade, who Hangman looks up to and respects, and that is Mark Briscoe! So if MJF wants a shot at this title, he better fight and beat Mark Briscoe.
MJF says wow, “just a bunch o’ hicks from the sticks” sticking together. Hangman says he doesn’t see the Hurt Syndicate anywhere, so he doesn’t know what’s stopping him from beating MJF’s ass right now. MJF backs off, saying he doesn’t need this. Hangman says that’s what he thought. But speaking of Briscoe, he and Ricochet get the main event! Will the Sussex County Chicken prove he’s worthy with a win in the Windy City? Or will the One & Only make Dynamite #OuttaThisWorld?
Backstage interview with Willow Nightingale.
Alicia Atout is with the Babe with the Power, and she brings up how last week, Willow put out a challenge to the Toxic Spider. But the week has come and gone and still no response. What does Willow say to that? Willow says she shot her shot, and Thekla has ignored her to make new friends, AKA The Triangle of Madness. Willow says so what, everyone can name shapes! Call her the Trapezoid of Grapplezoids! And she won’t let this go without a fight. Willow went over Thekla’s head and knocked on ol’ TK’s door. She asked him what he thought about Collision, Thursday night, the last night of the Chicago residency, let’s do something cool!
TK told Willow, “Damn girl! You wanna get all crazy, Chi style?” And she said, “Damn straight, dude!” Cuz yeah, that’s how matches are made here. So it is official! Willow VS Thekla 1v1, and they can do it however the spider wants! Upside-down, right-side-up, on the moon or in Thekla’s web, it doesn’t matter because Willow is gonna kick that spider ass and rip off every single one of those eight legs. The Babe with the Power is ready, but will she crush a corner of the Triangle? Or will she have to watch her back with Julia Hart & Skye Blue lurking?

Winner: Mark Briscoe, by pinfall
The spirit of his older brother was with him once again as Mark Briscoe brings down The One & Only! Briscoe grabs a mic, and he says, “Ladies and gentlemen, we just getting started tonight! M J F! You brought my brother’s name forth one time, shame on you. But you brought it forth again! Shame on ME if I don’t obliterate yo ass!” The fans cheer that! Briscoe says he’ll tell ya what, he’s never felt like this before. He needs help, man! He needs help, man! Briscoe has never felt like this! For the first time ever, he really feels like he’ll never see his brother again, because he knows Jay is up in Heaven chillin’ in the mansion!
But MJF, if Briscoe kills MJF in cold blood and does not repent, because he can’t, because not a single cell in his body feels even the slightest bit of remorse…! Briscoe is worried, man. So MJF, just do Briscoe a favor: MAKE MY DAY, DAMMIT! Right here, right now, get yo ass out here so they can do this! The fans fire up with Briscoe, and MJF surprisingly obliges. MJF’s music hits, but where is he? MJF talks via the tron and asks if Briscoe really thought MJF was going to go out there to see Briscoe face to face. Yeah, no, wrong. MJF isn’t a country bumpkin idiot. But uh, “Mascot Mark,” did you drop the comedy routine?
For a second there, Briscoe sounded pretty serious. But just because you sound serious doesn’t mean MJF has to take you seriously. Briscoe has called MJF out again and again, week after week, wanting a match, and frankly, MJF has no interest since Briscoe is a waste of his time. But see, now MJF has to prove a point because “Seabiscuit” Hangman says MJF is too cowardly to wrestle Briscoe. So guess what, Mascot Mark? MJF spoke to THE mark, Tony Khan, and they had a discussion. Next week, in Dynamite’s main event, it will be the Toothless Wonder, Mark Briscoe VS the Generational Talent, MJF. That is, if Briscoe makes it there.
Wait, the REAL MJF sneaks up behind Briscoe and LOW BLOWS him! That video was all a ruse! The fans boo but MJF rips off his button-up shirt and reveals his “MJF DID NOTHING WRONG” T-shirt! MJF rains down fists on Briscoe! The fans boo but MJF grabs the mic to shout, “WHO’S THE COWARD NOW, HUH!?” The fans boo because it’s still MJF given this was an ambush. MJF uses the mic to HAMMER Briscoe back down! The fans boo even more, but then MJF CHOKES Briscoe! MJF asks if Briscoe wants his fight, then he’s got it! MJF lets off so he can put on the Dynamite Diamond Ring! But wait, here comes Hangman!
Hangman storms back to the ring, MJF stands his ground, but Hangman BOOTS him! Hangman aims, but Briscoe has MJF first! MJF slips free of the underhooks and runs for the hills! The fans cheer as Cowboy and Chicken stand tall! MJF tells Briscoe finds out next week, but the fans chant “COWARD~! COWARD~!” Hangman and Briscoe shake hands. But will it be Briscoe or MJF that stands tall in The Land?
My Thoughts:
A great Dynamite here, though with somewhat confusing match order. As I’ve said before, title matches are the more fitting main event material, but I suppose AEW’s philosophy is that the match that needs the most time to breath needs to be a bit earlier than that so there’s no risk of overdoing the overrun. And at the very least, they still made it work putting the world title match in the middle and having a related match in the main event. Hangman VS Moxley 6 (I believe that’s the total number of 1v1s they’ve had) was very good, but of course the Death Riders would try to work around the ringside ban. Great moment from Darby jumping on them all, too.
But in the end, Hangman retaining was a given. Great promo from him and MJF backstage after MJF was officially dumped by the Hurt Syndicate. Also, very good promo from MJF and Shelton to establish that, Temu catching strays over their product quality. When Hangman pointed out Briscoe, I almost thought MJF was going to attack during the main event, but it fit better that he would wait and see if Ricochet would beat Briscoe or not. Ricochet did not, #Brodido going after GOA was good stuff to also build their tag match tomorrow night. That match could probably go either way, but Brody & Bandido being Faces, Faces VS Heels is always the standard, so I’d expect Brody & Bandido finding a way to beat Kaun & Liona.
Speaking of the tag tournament, that was an awesome opening match from Bucks VS Outrunners. I continue to love how they’re handling the story of The Bucks as former EVPs and getting their just desserts in terms of how they’re treated. Jobber entrance, no graphics, but they still won out because they’re still that good. Good promo from Stokely to call out all of FTR’s enemies, but also great interaction with The Bucks. They kinda gave into the cliche of Heels getting along with Heels with FTR and Bucks shaking hands. And Stokely revealing he isn’t really that hurt just because The Bucks can’t do anything was funny, mostly because for one, he’s on TV, we all know now.
Very good promo from Willow to call out Thekla and establish a match there, but her retelling of the “interaction” with TK was really odd. Still kinda funny, because maybe that’s how Willow sees TK, but it’s not like Willow’s ever done that before. But Willow VS Thekla will be great either way. But uh, that Christian Cage promo was not what it should’ve been, if only because it went long. It might’ve been Christian reacting to the Chicago crowd too much, but he also took his time tearing into the Patriarchy. But at least the attack by The Patriarchy made up for it, that chairshot sandwich was wild. And at the same time, Stokely’s mention of Cope being banned for the night was a fitting explanation as to why Cope couldn’t show up and at least check on Christian.
And great tag match from Toni & Windsor VS Athena & Billie. When Hangman VS Moxley wasn’t the main event, I almost thought this would be the main event. I had a feeling Athena & Billie would find a way to win, but Athena pinning Toni was a big surprise. And I almost thought they’d try and cash in once Windsor was sent into the barriers, but Athena waiting makes me think furthermore that Forbidden Door is where they’ll give us Toni VS Athena. Now, whether or not Athena wins depends on if they’ll ever figure out who takes the ROH Women’s Championship from her.
My Score: 9/10

The Death Riders speak.
It was after AEW Dynamite on Wednesday that Jon Moxley said, “Every time I step into the ring with Kyle O’Reilly, I can’t find a way to win. It’s been failure after failure after failure. Kyle O’Reilly has tapped me out, twice. Ipso facto, Kyle O’Reilly will be the new Continental Champion. You might think. But the Jon Moxley of six months ago is not the same as Jon Moxley of today. Who I will be tomorrow is better than who I am today. Logic and strategy would dictate that I should stay as far away from Kyle O’Reilly as I can. Because there’s no doubt about it, Kyle, you have my number.
The thing about this Continental Championship, it’s good bait. All the dragons I wanna slay come right to my door. I will do what I’ve done for 22 years surviving in this business, Kyle: I’m gonna find a way.” The Maniac heads out, and Claudio Castagnoli steps forward to tell Brody King that Brody always brings the bark. But if he steps in the ring with Claudio in the Owen Hart Tournament, he better bring the bite. Pac then says, “Nobody gets special treatment. It doesn’t matter who you are, Death Riders against the world.” Daniel Garcia says yeah, let’s get it! Yuta repeats, “Against the world.” Marina Shafir tells the world, “Bring it, you p*ssies!”

Will Ospreay speaks.
It was also after Dynamite that The Aerial Assassin told Samoa Joe, “My apologies for not getting back to any of your messages, been a little bit busy training and getting myself ready for The Owen. Surprised to see you there in the opening round, mate. It’s gonna be a tough one. But if you can just bear with me for a hot second while I explain to you… Six months of my life got taken away from me, mate. Six months, I’ve been sitting in front of a TV screen, watching AEW, looking at it, trying to get my strength back in my arms, rushing to get back. That’s six months of frustration, six months of anger. And then I finally had my kill shot on Dynasty, and I lost.
“And ever since then, man, I’ve been struggling with my matches. Doc even stopped one for my own safety. I’m annoyed that I didn’t get revenge on Jon. But I’m more upset at the idea that I can’t be the guy that AEW put their trust in once upon a time. Regardless of how I feel about Jon, regardless of how I feel about The Death Riders, there’s nothing that I can say that’ll make people ever understand. But Jon Moxley is the Ace, he’s a soldier for this place. And while his methods might be sick, there are people who stand up to see him get elevated. So what could it happen with him in my corner?
“Joe, I’ve got nothing but respect for ya. Everything that you’ve done in this industry. Mate, you were in the match that made me want to become a pro-wrestler. But no one, no one, is stopping me from winning The Owen. And I find it very poetic that the man takt took away my old life has given me a second chance of capturing the world championship.” The Billy Goat is ready to become something more, but will Samoa Joe make sure Ospreay goes Double or Nothing and loses?

Backstage interview with Sammy Guevara.
Lexy Nair is with The Spanish God and brings up how he called out Darby Allin just last night at Supercard of Honor for the AEW World Championship. But just like last night, Sammy hushes “Chica” Lexy, and says, “Everybody’s Favorite Pillar is about to talk, so zip it and listen. Darby, I don’t need to call my shot against you because I looked through the history books, and history’s on my side. I’ve beaten you not once, not twice, not three times, I’ve beaten you four times. When I look at the history books, I’m a three-time TNT Champion while you, you’ve only held that belt twice.
“So I’m gonna beat you tonight like I’ve beaten you before. I’m gonna stamp my ticket to Double or Nothing, and MJF, I know you’re watching, you sociopath. I’m gonna beat you next week and I’m gonna shave you BALD! But don’t worry, I’ll give you a nice little fade. Because I am the best! I am the best wrestler, I am the best talker, I am the best this planet has! I’m the Spanish God, dammit! I’m number one, I’ve been here since day one, and there’s only one way this is gonna go: With me as the NEW AEW World Champion! Darby, your time is up, and my time is now. Because I am Numero Uno. That means ‘number one.'”
Sammy heads out, but is his big head only going to get in the way tonight?
Backstage interview with Darby Allin.
Collision returns and Lexy is now with said AEW World Champion. She brings up the five title defenses in 21 days, an AEW record! But tonight is number six against someone Darby’s known for a long time in Sammy Guevara. Darby says when he showed up today, he asked if anyone had seen MJF yet. Then he thought, “What a stupid question. Of course he’s not gonna be at Collision.” MJF is not a company man, he only cares about himself. And those same people asked back, why is Darby back? Why is Darby defending his title again? Double or Nothing is next Sunday, why is Darby risking losing this? Because Darby loves this!
And if there’s anyone in this company as crazy as Darby, it is Sammy Guevara. Darby loves it! Darby realizes this could all end tonight, and Speedball wants his match on Wednesday? Well, if Darby walks out here tonight, then on Dynamite, it’s Showtime! Darby thanks Lexy then heads back out. Will the Relentless Reign be an unstoppable one? Backstage interview with Anna Jay.
Lexy Nair is with the Queenslayer and commends her on that great return match against Willow Nightingale a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to stop the Comeback Killer. Anna gives all the respect to Willow, her moves hurt. Maybe Anna dove into the deep end, but she didn’t drown. So while Willow is still TBS Champion, maybe Willow isn’t quite the Comeback Killer. Anna came back, is still here, and there is still a lot left for them to do. And by that, she means her and Tay Melo! The besties reunite, and Tay says if Anna is back, and she is back, then there’s one thing they gotta do.
Anna tells if they wanna find out what that is, #JustTryUs! TayJay is back again, but are they going to fight their way right to the Divine Dominion’s tag titles?
AEW World Championship No Count Outs: Darby Allin VS Sammy Guevara!
The Relentless One may have gotten MJF to accept the Double or Nothing challenge, but he is always up for a fight! The Spanish God still has the ROH World Tag Team Championship around his waist, but he wants even more gold to show off to his wife and daughter! Who gets what they want tonight to then head for Queens, New York?
As he makes his entrance, Sammy brings a table out from under the ring and sets it up ringside, planning ahead for the wild fight he and Darby are about to have! The introductions are made, and Darby kneels down with the belt, only for Sammy to STOMP him into it!! The ref reprimands, the fans boo, but Sammy holds up the belt as if he’s already won it! COFFIN DROP!!! Cover, DARBY WINS!
Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)
As if his reign wasn’t wild and reckless before, Darby just doubled down with Sammy here tonight! And yet, he’s now set for a showdown with Speedball in Portland! Will no one and nothing stop Darby Allin from doing this again and again? Or is he about to write a check his body can’t cash?
My Thoughts:
A great Collision that not only fed Double or Nothing but did a great job following up ROH Supercard of Honor, assuring fans that ROH does matter after all, despite the lack of building contenders and therefore new champions. I mean, Athena is STILL champion, even when Survival of the Fittest was the best way to dethrone her while protecting her. But good interaction from Athena and Mina ahead of their Owen Hart Cup match, and if Athena is going to still be champion even now, she might as well just be a finalist already. On the other end, it’d be great if Willow also got to the finals to potentially be a two-time Queen of Harts.
Speaking of Willow, great promo with Conglomeration, great match with Red Velvet, but with Velvet still the ROH Women’s World TV Champion, it makes sense that Willow retains her title. Great Six Man Tag from Conglomeration VS Shane Taylor Promotions, and The Conglomeration’s win helps them build momentum towards all their stories. Very good promo from Kyle, very good promo from Death Riders, and I feel like Kyle should at least last the 20 minute time limit to earn his title match with Moxley for Double or Nothing. Meanwhile, Cassidy & Roddy are NOT winning against FTR, FTR has to settle things with Cope & Christian first.
Ciampa going after Briscoe, that whole brawl, and then Briscoe upping the ante for Dynamite, that No Disqualification match is going to be awesome. Very good tag match of Joe & Bowens VS Lethal & Lee, with a good win for The Opps. Very good promo from Joe & Bowens after, and a very good promo from Ospreay, too. Joe VS Ospreay could be a show stealer, but I would think Ospreay wins so that his story with The Death Riders can be part of the Owen Cup. TayJay being back together is great, and I can see them going right at Divine Dominion and easily lasting the five minutes to then earn their title match later on.
Great Six Man Tag of Davis & Dogs VS Rascalz, but with Stadium Stampede looming, naturally Davis & Dogs won to bring momentum for their team. I’d expect The Demand to have their own tune-up for the three-hour super show go-home next week, but they might’ve announced that tonight if that were the case. Very good promo from Lio Rush to further this Jekyll & Hyde/Smeagle & Gollum type of gimmick for him. For those who didn’t watch Supercard (or haven’t read my article on it), Action Andretti turned on Lio Rush and partially blamed Lio’s new dark side for it. RIP CRU, we hardly knew you, but Action VS this Lio is going to be great stuff between AEW and ROH programming.
And of course, another insane instant classic from Darby Allin as he and Sammy use No Count Outs to get hardcore. Good bit of selling from Darby to tease his body giving out on him, but naturally he wins out. They might do a similar spot during his match against Speedball on Wednesday to make it seem MJF has a chance of taking the title at Double or Nothing.
My Score: 8.9/10

MJF arrives backstage.
Renee Paquette is there to bring up tonight’s main event is Darby Allin VS Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW World Championship. If Darby Allin wins, MJF will then have to sign a contract for Title VS Hair at Double or Nothing. Darby has made it clear that if MJF doesn’t sign said contract, Darby will never allow MJF to face him for the title again. We all know how important the title is for MJF, but is MJF willing to put his hair on the line for it? MJF just chuckles and moves on, but he notices the very bald Rick Knox, Bryce Remsburg, and the head of security, David Aponte. And then various bald members of the production staff…
And then even Christopher Daniels & Sonjay Dutt are there! Daniels and Sonjay chuckle before moving on, and then MJF sees John Silver flexing. Brandon Cutler, some arena staff, and even Tommaso Ciampa, all bald. Then last but certainly not least, Ricochet! He tells MJF that don’t worry, he’ll look great. Just not as good as Ricochet. AHA~! MJF storms off, will he have no choice but to choose between gold belt and chrome dome?
10 Man Tag: Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage & The Young Bucks VS Tommaso Ciampa, David Finlay, Clark Connors & FTR w/ Stokely Hathaway!
While we know the AEW World Tag Team Championship match will be a conglomeration of I Quit Match and New York Street Fight, THE Conglomeration will be waiting on the other side for their own tag title match. And let’s not forget that Matt & Nick Jackson want their own shot at those titles again. With that, can Freshly Squeezed work together with C&C and The Bucks? This distraction lets Christian LOW BLOW Cash! DOUBLE SUPERKICKS for Cash! Christian covers, TWO! Cash survives, the fans boo, but Christian rains down fists while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Christian puts Cash in the corner to CHPO, CHOP, and then rain down fists! Christian goes past TEN, maybe to fifteen, then stops. Cash sputters, Stoke talks trash, but Christian grabs Stoke! Cash CLUBS Christian, Ciampa HOTSHOTS the bad arm, and Ciampa hurries to tag in. Ciampa drags Christian around, SLAMS the bad arm off the mat, then SLAMS the arm again! Ciampa POSTS Christian, and Christian falls to the apron. The ref keeps his eyes on the rest of the team so they stay back. Ciampa goes out, and he SWINGS the bad arm into the post! Christian scrambles away, clutching the arm, but Ciampa taunts Cope with a wave.

Another star-studded 10 Man Tag, and it was a huge win for all the hungry contenders. Christian doesn’t wanna celebrate, but he does signal that he and Cope will be champions. Will putting their tag team legacy on the line be enough to take the gold? Or will Double or Nothing be the last night that team reeks of awesomeness?
Will Ospreay continues to train with The Death Riders.
They’re outside this time, Claudio Castagnoli playing some wall ball with Marina Shafir and Pac. Daniel Garcia says, “Tonight is the night that we’ve all been waiting for: The Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay, is cleared and back on Dynamite. And rumor has it, the kid’s been working real hard and he’s got some new tricks up his sleeves. So Young Boy Billy, tonight you gotta show me something, c’mon.” Garcia gets a quick turn in on wall ball while cameras move over. Ospreay is maintaining a neck bridge while Jon Moxley uses Wheeler Yuta as a living dummy to show just how to push and pull and bend and twist on the various chinlocks and headlocks.
Use the right arm to push against the head, then snake in the left arm for the sleeper. Pry and shoot. Moxley asks how Ospreay feels. Ospreay lets off the bridge and says honestly, the best he’s felt in forever. Moxley asks if Ospreay remembers the night he won the Best of the Super Juniors. Yeah, 2019. AKA a lifetime ago. Ospreay was carefree, flew like a bird, for no other reason than that’s just what birds do. So simple back then, chasing that feeling, like no other feeling in the world. Can’t really grab it in your hands for more than a few seconds. The joy of doing it. Then everybody comes in and tries to make it so overcomplicated.
Years pass, life happens, a family starts, responsibilities show up, bad things happen, bad choices catch up to you, and it’s all weight on your shoulders. You feel like you can’t fly. But Moxley will tell you something: Nothing is different. Nothing has changed. All those things are still gonna be there, but you can still fly. You’re just more dangerous now. You’re a bird of prey. So tonight, when you got out there, don’t go out there to protect anything. Not your neck, your image, your reputation, or what you’ve built in your career. Go out there to give something. Moxley checks on Yuta and says dammit, if you’re gonna snap a headlock, snap the headlock!
Moxley storms off to instruct his pupil, but will Ospreay use everything he has been taught to great effect? Or will he have to fold against Ace Austin?
Chris Jericho speaks.
“You wanna face Jericho in a match of my own design, Ricochet? A spectacle so innovative, so imaginative, it cannot be contained, it can only be witnessed. Well, be careful what you demand, because you’ve made a few enemies yourself, Ricochet. And now a match designed specifically to settle scores without any, and I mean AAANY~, limitations has gotten even bigger.” Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate were just looking for two more, but “Jungle” Jack Perry said he can bring four: himself, The Young Bucks, and KENNY OMEGA! Jericho tells Ricochet that this is no longer what he designed, but it is a devil’s dance of destruction! Ricochet’s destruction!
Ricochet got what he wanted, now can he handle it? Bald. The first-ever SEVEN VS SEVEN Stadium Stampede, who will even survive?
Ricochet & The Demand respond.
They stand with Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family and Ricochet says we all know Jericho does a lot of talking out of his ass while The Demand gets things done. Just like Davis did when he defeated Jack for the AEW National Championship at Fairway to Hell. Hold it with pride, Davis, Ricochet knows you’ll do it well. Davis says he’s got this. Ricochet says Davis has joined the dream team, but he’s not the only one. Because compliments to Ricochet’s golfing buddy, Don Callis, look who else he’s sending: Andrade El Idolo! Gracias, amigo. But it doesn’t stop there, the train keeps rolling. Ricochet was just approached by two guys who have an ax to grind with the superkick sidekicks.
These two wanna fill out the last two spots, so who is Ricochet to say no to The Dogs? Finlay & Connors storm in, and Finlay says to put it simple, they will fight The Bucks in the streets, in the ring, but guess it’s fighting at Double or Nothing! If they want violence, if they want carnage, if they want chaos, who better than The Dogs?! The Dogs bark and Liona roars, but will these seven stand tall in the Big Apple?
“Speedball” Mike Bailey w/ Kevin Knight VS BK Westbrook!
JetSpeed has a lot of momentum on their side, and as stated last week at Fairway to Hell, they’re looking to grab up all the gold they can. Will Speedball keep on rolling towards his own golden opportunity? Or will #Supastud prove his own worth?
The bell rings and the fans rally as the two step up. Bailey bows in respect, offers a handshake, but Westbrook goes to roll Bailey up! Bailey stays on his feet, then steps over to sit down on a cover, TWO! Westbrook ducks a Penalty Kick, avoids the moonsault, and the sweep! Bailey dodges, Westbrook tiger feints through the ropes, but Bailey handsprings up and over! The fans fire up as Bailey ducks an elbow to whip. Westbrook goes up, around, but kinda fumbles his tumble. The fans cheer and jeer him for his attempt, but Westbrook blocks the boot! Westbrook FLIPS Bailey, springboards in, but Bailey dodges! TIME ADVENTURE!
Bailey pushes Westbrook down, goes up the corner, and the fans fire up for the ULTIMATE WEAPON! Cover, Bailey wins!
Winner: Mike Bailey, by pinfall
Another fast ‘n’ furious finish, and Bailey’s on a hot streak! But now, the other side of JetSpeed looks to keep it up! But just who is Kevin Knight defending the TNT Championship against? He could’ve been with the team that would do nothing but support and enhance Ospreay, but he decided to be a lapdog for Moxley and the Death Riders. The fans boo, Ospreay says he’s not a Death Rider.
Joe says Ospreay has made his choice, and come Double or Nothing, Joe makes Ospreay suffer the consequences. But Joe leaves Ospreay in peace tonight, for he has his date with destiny. But unfortunately, Joe’s friends, Katsuyori Shibata & Anthony Bowens, still feel slighted, and he doesn’t put leashes on his friends. Shibata & Bowens storm down the ramp, Ospreay ready to fight them both if he has to. But then The Death Riders appear! Ospreay may not have officially joined the club, but the Death Riders aren’t going to let their investment go to waste! The Opps say they’re #NeverLacking, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now!
Shibata & Bowens back down while Moxley, Marina, Claudio, Yuta, Garcia & Pac all step up to support Ospreay. Joe says, “Soon. Soon.” The fans cheer the Death Riders, or at least Moxley, but Bowens promises Joe is gonna kill you, Ospreay! The dream match for Double or Nothing is on, but will the training with The Death Riders make Ospreay the new King of Harts?

Backstage interview with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita.
Renee is now with The Invisible Hand & The Alpha, saying tonight is a huge opportunity in the main event, Konosuke facing Darby Allin for THE AEW World Championship. Konosuke could be heading into Double or Nothing as a- Callis stops Renee there to say Konosuke will be heading into Double or Nothing as a DOUBLE champion! But then MJF steps in, apologizes for the interruption but says Renee’s doing a great job. The Scumbag tells Konosuke that while it’s been a minute since the two of them have talked, three years actually, back when MJF beat him… MJF has seen Konosuke develop into truly one of the best wrestlers in the world!
MJF believes that tonight, Konosuke beats Darby for the title, goes to DON to beat Okada, and MJF can’t think of a better match than Konosuke VS MJF Part 2 for the world title. How’s that sound? MJF offers a handshake, Konosuke shakes his hand, but in Japanese, Konosuke tells MJF that he’ll beat the crap out of him. Thankfully, MJF doesn’t know Japanese. Callis says that was a nice pep talk MJF just gave, and MJF says yes, he knows. That kid needs to win, okay? MJF can’t let Darby turn him into some disgusting, bald freak! No offense, Callis looks great. But look, there is only one foolproof way to know MJF won’t be put in that situation.
So if things get hairy… MJF hands over the Dynamite Diamond Ring! Callis smiles, and say she understands what to do with it. But then in steps Andrade. El Idolo takes off his hat to shake out his amazing head of hair, and smiles at MJF. MJF frowns and leaves. Callis says here’s the deal: Takeshita will bring the world title home to the Don Callis Family tonight! Andrade asks, “How you know?” Callis says aye dios mio, he seriously doesn’t know where Andrade learned English. Andrade says one way or another, the next time, that will be HIS title. Callis says yes, he knows, it’s all good. Callis is a man of many talents, but will his family be dripping with gold thanks to a diamond ring?

But it seems that there is even more business to attend to. Cassidy says yes, the team has a shot at THE AEW World Tag Team Championships. It doesn’t matter who it is, they’re getting their shot, but the thing is… They still haven’t decided on which two will be. Kyle says Cassidy & Roddy should go for the gold, but Roddy shouts, “KYYYLE~! Thank you.” Kyle says of course. But that’s cuz he’s got gold to chase for himself!
The same man that put Kyle on the shelf for months is the man that Kyle submitted twice, and will submit again. Jon Moxley, Continental Champion, when are we doing this? Willow says speaking of gold, she is still the TBS Champion. But she is also in the Owen Hart Cup. She won this tournament before, she’ll do it all over again, so that she can have all the gold for herself at All In: London. She knows she can, and she will! Then Conglomeration has it all in order? Cassidy says hold on, there’s something missing. They should do a Word of the Day. Why haven’t they done one in so long? Roddy shouts for “MAAARK~!” And yes, Mark Briscoe returns!
The Sussex County Chicken is all fired up, and he says the Word of the day is reunification! For Mark Briscoe is back with his boys and his girls, The Conglomeration! But he’ll put this plain and simple: Tommaso Ciampa! Next Wednesday, Briscoe’s after your ass, son! You hear him? But before that, Saturday Night Collision is in HIS hometown, Salisbury, Maryland! That’s just 4.4 miles from where Briscoe originated on this earth! They’re gonna conglomerate and it’s gonna be a a hell of a time! Are you ready!? Willow and Kyle are fired up, Briscoe goes wild, and the team heads out. Cassidy admits, that was a lot of yelling.
But while The Conglomeration is ready to go Double or Nothing, will they soon have even more gold in the collection? Or are these high and lofty a little too much even for them?

Direct hit on Konosuke but Darby’s the one who hits the desk! The fans fire up while both men are down again, but Darby rises up to get Konosuke on the apron! Darby fires forearms, then goes up a corner! COFFIN- NO, Konosuke catches him for a SUPER BLUE THUNDER BOMB to the floor!! The fans go nuts again and Callis says that’s the end of Darby Allin, but Dynamite goes picture in picture.
The ref hurries to check Darby but Callis tells Doc Sampson to call it. Darby is somehow still in this, so Konosuke storms his way over. Konosuke drags Darby up, puts him in the ring, then paces around him. Konosuke runs the ropes to LARIAT! Darby flips inside-out, Konosuke covers him, TWO!! Darby still has fight inside but he’s also dazed. Konosuke clamps onto Darby with a chinlock and squeezes tight. Darby endures, even as Konosuke leans on him with his much-taller frame. Darby reaches out, fights around, and rises up, only for Konosuke to CANADIAN RACK BOMB! Darby sputters all over again while Dynamite returns to single picture.
Konosuke sits back as he watches Darby crawl to the apron. Konosuke storms his way over, but Darby RAMS low! Slingshot sunset flip, but Konosuke rolls through! Only for Darby to kick the legs out! Darby catches Konosuke to a GUILLOTINE! Konosuke endures the squeeze, fights up to his feet, and he powers out to THROW Darby! Darby lands out, fires shots, and RAMS low! Darby then hops on, but Konosuke stops Code Red! Konosuke swings Darby around, tucks him in, BASTARD DRIVER! And WHEELBARROW GERMAN! The fans fire up and Callis says that’s true power! Darby sputters again and Konosuke vows to end this.
Konosuke runs corner to corner, HELLUVA KICK!! Then he hoists Darby up top, climbs up after him, and goes to the very top! The fans freak out already for the SUPER DUPER GERMAN SUPLEX!! Bridging cover, TWO!!! Callis is freaking out as much as the fans, and he protests the count! Konosuke is furious, but he aims for the WAGAMAMA KNEE!!! Cover, TWO?!?! Darby survives by nanoseconds, and Konosuke is beside himself! “This is Awesome!” but now CLØN rushes out here! He distracts the ref, and Callis hurries to take the Dynamite Diamond Ring off his finger to put it in Konosuke’s hands! Konosuke thinks about it, but The Alpha has honor!
The fans cheer as Konosuke wants to do this his way! But then Darby runs up, cradles, TWO!! Konosuke escapes, ALPHA ELBOW!! Darby is down, dazed, but still moving! Konosuke drags Darby up again, goes back to the corner and back to the top rope. The fans hope these two “FIGHT FOREVER!” but it has to end somehow! Darby fights against the lift with headlock punches! Then he hops on, SUPER CODE RED!! Konosuke staggers up, Darby leg scissors, steps through, LAST SUPPER!! TWO?!?! Konosuke escapes again, then bails out! So Darby just goes up top! SUPER COFFIN DROP!! Direct hit and both men are down again!
The fans are thunderous as Konosuke and Darby stir. A ring count climbs, Callis complains that some people just gotta follow directions and run the play! Coach Callis pulled Konosuke outta obscurity, Konosuke would do anything! Now he’s got some gold, some fame, and gets a mind of his own! Callis complaining aside, the ring count is climbing! Darby drags himself in at 9, but Konosuke YANKS him back out! That refreshes the count, and Konosuke vows to end this for real now. Konosuke points to the steel steps, and he drags Darby up onto them with a deadlift RAGING- NO, Darby knees Konosuke, turns things around, and FULL METAL SCORPION DEATH DROP!!!
The fans go nuts again while Konosuke writhes! Konosuke flops off the steps, Darby crawls into the ring, and Darby just climbs the corner again! SUPER DUPER COFFIN DROP!!! Konosuke might be unconscious! Darby still hauls Konosuke into the ring, pushes him to a cover, TWO?!?!? Konosuke survives and Darby is furious! But Darby just reloads, COFFIN DROP but onto knees!!! Ghost pin, TWO!!! Darby escapes but the WAGAMAMA KNEE finds him!! Konosuke hauls Darby up, but Darby pops free! Trip, step through, and SCORPION DEATH LOCK!!! Konosuke endures, reaches out, but Darby sits deep!!
Callis says don’t even think about it! Konosuke almost does, but he bites his own thumb to ignore the pain in his back! Konosuke reaches out, crawls his way forward, and he fights to the ROPEBREAK!!! But Darby is right up top! COFFION DROP on the back!! Then Darby goes right back up, COFFIN DROP again!!! Cover, DARBY WINS!!
Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)
Callis is steaming, but Darby overcomes Konosuke to avenge that loss in the Continental Classic! But it also took so much out of him just to do it! Darby still asks for a mic and one is brought to him. Darby sits up against the ropes, has them cut his music, and he tells MJF to get his ass out here! There’s a contract MJF needs to sign! The ring crew hurries to bring in a table and some chairs for that very contract signing, and MJF makes his entrance. MJF reluctantly makes his way down the ramp, and both men meet at the table. Darby grins with blood still in hiss teeth, and he signs his part of the contract without hesitation, unlike MJF.
The fans already chant “BALD! BALD! BALD!” at MJF, and Darby pushes the contract to his side of the table. MJF grabs the pen, reaches out, but then steps away. MJF scratches his chin as he thinks on this, and the fans just chant, “BALD! BALD! BALD!” again. MJF takes a mic to say he’ll explain something to Darby, looking like he has rabies. But see, MJF is happy for Darby, he hopes Darby’s had fun holding MJF’s AEW World Championship. The fans boo that, but MJF says deep down, there is a small part of him, like the size of a North Carolinian p*nis small. That small part of MJF feels bad for Darby, because he’ll never hold this again!
Darby’s got about a good a chance of holding this title as Hangman Adam Page does again. MJF says guys like Darby are a dime a dozen, here today and gone tomorrow, stuntmen who burn the candle at both ends. In this life, people like all these fans here like to pretend that life is about making friends and family and children. The only thing that matters in life is your legacy. And Darby’s legacy will be that of the kid who had his 15 minutes of fame. They’ll pretend like Darby made a lasting impact, but the fact of the matter is, he hasn’t. He hasn’t! They’ll know deep down that Darby Allin was just a little pr*ck who got lucky.
They’ll know that Darby was too reckless and stupid to stay on top. And after May 24th, Double or Nothing, in that sh*thole of Queens, New York, y’know what MJF’s legacy will be? He’ll go down as the guy who became a THREE-TIME World Champion at just 30 years of age, unprecedented in this sport. And MJF will go down, when it’s all said and done, as the Greatest of All Time! THAT is the difference between them! Darby Allin brags about climbing a mountaintop. But when it comes to professional wrestling, Maxwell Jacob Friedman IS the mountaintop! The fans boo but MJF soaks it up. Darby tells MJF to SHUT UP!
Only someone like MJF who is so vain would think that the number one most important thing in this world is his legacy. Darby doesn’t care about legacy, he cares about living in the moment! And in this moment, Darby just wants MJF to sign the contract. Then at Double or Nothing, Darby makes Maxwell Jacob Friedman a BALLD HEADED B*TCH!! MJF frowns but the fans cheer that! MJF grabs the pen again, and with no choice, he signs on the dotted line! Then he TACKLES Darby! The fans boo as MJF beats up Darby after the war he went through with Konosuke! MJF CHUCKS an armchair outta the ring, FLIPS the table, then picks up his Dynamite Diamond Ring.
MJF puts the ring on his finger like always, then winds up to DECK Darby!! The fans boo but MJF just soaks it all up. MJF throws off his jacket, picks up the belt, and he stands over Darby with it. But then MJF isn’t done with Darby, he puts Darby on the top rope! MJF climbs up to join him, and drags Darby into position! But wait! Kevin Knight runs out here to chase MJF off! The Jet still owes The Scumbag a receipt, but it seems we’ll all have to wait on that. Will MJF still take back the title at Double or Nothing? Or will Darby keep the belt and take MJF’s dignity?
My Thoughts:
An awesome episode for Dynamite as things heat up towards Double or Nothing. Awesome 10 Man Tag to open, great win for the Faces, not that it added much to FTR VS C&C. Good promo from Jericho to look back on Stadium Stampede and hype up this year’s match. Good promo from The Demand with Davis and The Dogs, and I suppose this maximizes the feuds as well as the alliances throughout the locker room. Who knows who wins but the match will still be awesome, just as the original was. Good promo from Conglomeration, too, Cassidy & Roddy going after FTR while Kyle VS Moxley happens on the side, that’s great stuff.
Speaking of Moxley, great promo from him and Ospreay. Moxley’s semi-turn has really brought out his sage philosophical side. Great match from Ospreay VS Ace, and while Ospreay could always bring out his aggression, seeing him use more technical wrestling and even winning with a submission is good stuff. Good promo from Joe, and I liked Death Riders backing Ospreay up. Very good Owen Hart Cup brackets this year, Joe VS Ospreay is a great choice given this story, but I would think Ospreay wins that one. Good promo from Jack Perry to call out Davis, and I suppose Jack can win in the Owen Cup to then move on from the National title.
Great seeing Brian Cage back, he gave Knight an awesome match, but with JetSpeed wanting to go on a Two Man Power Trip, it makes sense Kevin won out. Same for Bailey beating Westbrook, even though Westbrook maybe went too hard on his own acrobatic escape. Great stuff in the Six Woman Tag, and I appreciate Shida didn’t ditch until after the match. Willow, Mina & Rosa might get their own Six Woman Tag with Triangle of Madness after that interaction, but also can’t wait to see if Willow can go back-to-back as Queen of Harts. For that matter, I personally would love to see Athena use the Owen Cup to move on from being ROH Women’s World Champion, but that depends on how Supercard of Honor goes this Friday.
And of course, another wild instant classic from Darby as he overcomes Takeshita. I knew the diamond ring would come into play with that reverse effect, good way of protecting Takeshita in the loss. Good stuff with MJF tonight, too, such as the opening segment’s parade of bald men to send the message to MJF. That was also a unique contract signing segment in that it came together so quickly after the main event match. Good stuff from MJF as always, and of course he attacks Darby. I feel like either Knight should not have made the save, or both parts of JetSpeed should’ve made the save. It just seems odd that only Knight cared about saving Darby. The closing moment was much better when it was MJF standing over Darby with the belt.
My Score: 9/10
