AJ Styles’ WWE post-retirement role remains fluid
AJ Styles says his post-retirement position in WWE is still taking shape as he tries on a few different behind-the-scenes roles. Speaking with WWE Now during WrestleMania weekend, Styles confirmed he’s helping on the recruiting side and working with WWE’s ID program to give independent wrestlers more experience and income, but he’ll pare things back if one role proves to be the best fit.
Styles retired in the ring at Royal Rumble 2026 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last week, and he says he doesn’t miss the physical toll of competing. After sitting in on creative and production meetings that didn’t suit him, the recruiting work became a natural landing spot where he can shape the next generation without hurting himself for a living.

Rikishi: WWE Doesn’t Need AI — Let the Real Talent Shine
WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has made it clear he opposes the use of artificial intelligence in WWE’s on-screen product, saying the promotion should prioritize the authenticity of its performers. He believes AI-driven elements risk diluting the unique personalities and organic storytelling that make sports entertainment compelling.
Rikishi urged WWE to give its roster room to breathe and to let “real talent” come through rather than leaning on technology to craft moments. His stance reinforces a broader debate in wrestling about balancing innovation with the human elements that connect with fans.

Rey Fenix to Challenge Laredo Kid for AAA Cruiserweight Title on May 23, 2026
AAA has announced that WWE’s Rey Fenix will challenge Laredo Kid for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship on the May 23, 2026 episode of AAA on Fox, following a weeks-long rivalry that included a non-title win for Fenix on the May 5 broadcast. The match is the only contest announced so far for next week’s show and marks the culmination of the recent feud between the two high-flyers.
Laredo Kid has been cruiserweight champion since December 2024, while Fenix is a former AAA World Cruiserweight Champion who held the title for over 390 days before vacating it; Fenix has also teased interest in pursuing his brother Penta’s Intercontinental Championship on WWE RAW. Fans can expect a high-octane title clash when the episode airs May 23.
