In some off-the-wall news today out of Japan, The Tokyo Reporter has broken news that former TNA Knockout and reigning Sendai Girls World Champion Ayako Hamada has been arrested for drugs.

According to the report, Tokyo police showed up to Hamada’s apartment back on May 13th and found her to be incoherently rambling on and behaving erratically. The 37-year old daughter of Japanese Legend Gran Hamada was given a urine test, which turned up positive for a stimulant called “kakuseizei”. She later stated to police that she had inhaled it through her nose.

It gets even crazier as Hamada had been scheduled for a match in Osaka for Pro Wrestling Wave, which she did not show up for, but instead sent word to the company that she was being held at knife-point by four men. Of course, once this message was received, police were notified.

She has since been stripped of her Sendai Girls World Title and had her Pro Wrestling Wave contract terminated.

EA’s Take: Damn, are we sure this wasn’t in Florida? All kidding aside, this is just craziness. I’ve never understood how anybody would even be interested in drugs and when I say “drugs”, I’m not talking about marijuana. Be real. As our Andrew Balaz reminded me, Japan doesn’t screw around when it comes to drugs. We’ve seen this with Matt Riddle, then of course Matt Sydal famously did time and these cases were both pot-related. So this stimulant that seems to be some type of methamphetamine very likely carries a tougher punishment. At 37, her career’s probably over now. At least she didn’t harm herself or…you know…eat someone’s face or something.
