With the recent revelation that WWE’s SmackDown Live will be heading to FOX in October 2019 and the addition of a weekly show on FS1 (check that story out here), there’s been a lot of speculation surrounding NXT’s future. While the WWE’s third brand is an attraction for subscribers to the WWE Network, it’s been rumored that the weekly show on FS1 could in fact be NXT and has even been reported by some.

Today, WWE COO Triple H spoke with Mike Johnson of PWInsider for an interview and addressed NXT’s spot on the WWE Network:

“As far as where NXT ends up, as that brand continues to grow, never say never, I guess. For the value of the Network, NXT is a valuable part of the WWE Network. Where it ends up, I don’t know. Obviously, that’s a decision that Vince [McMahon] will make and the team here will make strategically as to where everything sits, just as we do everything else in our ecosystem as far as where we put content. It’s a constantly challenging question for us. Good problem to have, right?”

EA’s Take: NXT moving to FS1 has not been reported by anybody with any kind of credibility and there’s likely a reason for that. When I first caught wind of it, everything Triple H said about NXT’s value to the WWE Network is exactly what I was thinking. It’s a selling point to subscribers. If you’re ever going to bring NXT to television, I’d think WWE would try to monetize it a little better instead of just having it be a “throw-in” part of another deal, especially since NXT is in the red every year.
