What Do You Do With Lars Sullivan?
Vignettes for Lars Sullivan are airing on WWE television, and it has everyone wondering how WWE will use the big man on the man roster. Greg DeMarco has an idea that he believes could work!
Before we get started, I need to make one thing clear: I am a huge Lars Sullivan fan in the ring. He offers something that NXT didn’t have when he first showed up–a monster. Can that work on the main roster? I think it can, but there’s a lot that needs to “go right.”
What are those things? Well…
- He needs to be protected.
- He can’t be fed to Brock Lesnar.
- He can’t work on the same show as Braun Strowman…yet.
So what’s the answer? Well, that answer is simple.
But first, I need to address the elephant in the room. If Lars Sullivan believes the things he’s been caught saying online, then he needs to reevaluate his standing on racial relations in this country, and the world as a whole. Until he gets that right, he cannot be successful in WWE.
McMahon Muscle
Sounds cliche? Not really–when was the last time we really had the McMahon’s use someone as muscle? Big Show? Seth Rollins, a charge of The Authority, doesn’t count as he was a champion and booked like your typical championship caliber performer.
Muscle is something different, and Lars Sullivan is the perfect muscle for Shane McMahon OR Stephanie McMahon. Which one? Well the best answer, in theory, is BOTH.
I’m not saying he work on both brands at the same time, but he can start on one and then move to the other. Remember, you book backwards.
And if you’re booking backwards (and you should be), the end result for me is Lars Sullivan working on WWE Smackdown as the muscle for Shane McMahon.
But how do you get there?

An injury to Braun Strowman might open the door for a great way to introduce Lars Sullivan.
Standing in for Braun Strowman
We all know Braun Strowman is hurt, and probably had surgery by the time you’ve read this. It isn’t known if he’ll miss his TLC match against Baron Corbin, but for the sake of my argument, I am saying he let him have time off to heal.
Why? Because we have Lars!
It’s simple, really. As we head towards TLC, the vignettes for Lars continue, he can even show up on Raw and Smackdown, in the same week, but only be backstage to meet with Shane and Stephanie. You see, he’s such a big deal, he only deals with the McMahons, not acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin or Smackdown General Manager Paige.
The week before TLC, Baron Corbin is calling for Stephanie to declare him the winner at TLC since Braun cannot compete, giving him official authority as the Raw General Manager. Stephanie reveals that she has another idea.
And that idea…is Lars.
Lars Sullivan defeats Baron Corbin in his main roster debut, sealing his fate, and allowing Stephanie McMahon to name Alexa Bliss as Raw General Manager.
Free Agent Lars Sullivan
Surprising news is given to Alexa by Stephanie after she’s named GM. She needs to sign Lars! Lars signed a one match contract with Stephanie to fight Baron, believing that he could increase his contractual value with a win–which is exactly what he got.
So now Lars is playing coy with his contract talks, and has still only wrestled one match on the main roster. This also gives him time to wrap up his feud with Keith Lee in NXT.
Shane McMahon is already teasing a feud with The Miz, one that is expected to solidify Miz as a babyface. What better way to do that than to have Shane McMahon defeat The Miz in a one-on-one match at the Royal Rumble thanks t interference from Lars Sullivan.
And then the following Tuesday, it’s made official: Lars Sullivan is on Smackdown, and is Shane McMahon’s personal insurance policy.
That checks all the “boxes” I created above:
- Protected? Check.
- Not fed to Lesnar? Check.
- Not on the same show as Braun? Check.
It also furthers the issues between Shane and Stephanie, advances the animosity between Smackdown and Raw.
It’s the perfect balance, it’s a great story, and it ends as it should–with Lars Sullivan as a heel, aligned with a heat magnet in a heel Shane McMahon, on away from Braun Strowman on WWE Smackdown.
What do you think? Can Lars Sullivan become Shane McMahon’s muscle on Smackdown?

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
