Cody Says He Passed On WWE Already, Chances The Elite Could Split Up
Cody reveals he already declined WWE, talks about The Elite’s future!
There’s been no shortage of headlines this year surrounding Cody Rhodes and the rest of The Elite for that matter, as 2018 has seen them take the independent scene over with the success of All In, a possible sequel, their free agency (or impending), all the talk surrounding All Elite Wrestling and more.
Of course as the year nears its end, Cody is already free to make a decision on his future, but all signs right now still point to All Elite Wrestling being the outcome (see the latest on that here). Over the weekend, ‘The American Nightmare’ has been in the United Kingdom and took part in a live production of Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard for Fight Forever Wrestling.
During the show, fans had the opportunity to ask questions and when Cody was posed with the topic of a possible WWE return, he would respond by saying he had “already passed on the WWE offer a few weeks ago”, then spoke about the current independent scene’s ability to support a non-PG product.
Separately, Cody also was interviewed during his trip by Mirror Sport and addressed his knee injury, NXT UK and a host of other topics. When it comes to the future for The Elite as a whole however, Cody said it might not be as sure of a thing as everyone thinks that they will stick together:
“Yeah I know [about the rumors] and it’s one of those things where it’s nice to let it play out. Any time fans ask me what do you guys think is next, what’s the plan, I typically tell them to watch Being The Elite. I know Being The Elite has so much comedy in it and there’s many goofy elements, but it also has… the thread is in there of where we’ll be going and what we’ll be doing.
But the truth really is, these two months December and January, are really a minefield of just political and difficult decisions for everybody. You know, obviously, we would love to stick together, we have this chemistry amongst each other, this friendship and a competitive nature amongst each other, we would love to stay together, but who knows? There is a world where that may not happen.
Either way, if All In was just one night, it was the best night of my life, for sure. It was a wonderful thing. If it ends up being more, then I think that’s a great thing for the fans. But the best thing I can tell you is stay tuned and hang in there with us, because believe me, we don’t have all the answers yet either.”

EA’s Take: I think I’ve said this before, but these guys are so good at getting people to hang on everything they’re doing that I can’t ever rule out anything being just a total…brain tease (not what I was going to use there). Quite frankly, I’d be pretty surprised if The Elite didn’t all stay together after they’ve played that up so much. However, I will say if there’s one guy I could see straying, it would be Kenny Omega. Think about it…is it unreasonable to think he wouldn’t want to stay with New Japan? Maybe he works something out where he could do both too. Really, we’re all just taking stabs in the dark at this point, except for All Elite Wrestling. I think that’s a done deal, permitted they get a TV deal (which I think they will).

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
