Bodeen’s Top 5 Moments: WWE RAW (3/8/21)
Does a new WWE Champion help to reinvigorate the Raw brand? Check out Bodeen’s Top 5!
After Bobby Lashley beat The Miz for the WWE Championship last week, eyes were glued on RAW this week to see what Bobby Lashley’s first actions would be as WWE Champion. Bobby Lashley’s wasn’t just the only big factor heading into RAW as Sheamus and Drew Mcintyre continued their hard-hitting rivalry heading into Fastline.
Unfortanly these were the only 2 factors of RAW that really impressed, as most of the show fell somewhat flat, especially due to a strange series of segments with Shane Mcmahon and Braun Strowman. However, let’s look at the positive side of things and look for the top 5 moments that stood out on RAW this week.
5. Riddle beats Slapjack
While this segment was nothing special it was still a lot better than the rest of the things we sew on RAW this week. With Mustafa Ali facing Matt Riddle for the United States Championship next week, Riddle would face RETRIBUTION member, Slapjack, with Riddle getting the win over Slapjack in a match that passed the time well.
After the match RETRIBUTION leader, Mustafa Ali would berate Slapjack for losing against Riddle, potentially leading to a breakup between RETRIBUTION as we have seen Mustafa Ali grown more frustrated due to the failure of his fellow RETRIBUTION members.
While the feud has come out of nowhere, the match between Riddle and Mustafa Ali is sure to be an amazing showing with both men having a lot of talent between them.
4. Shelton Benjamin and Xavier Woods square off
While it is disappointing that The New Day’s feud with RETRIBUTION died with no real ending, a feud with The New Day and The Hurt Business has a lot of potential with both teams being extremely talented in the ring. We would get a glimpse of this potential as Xavier Woods challenged Shelton Benjamin in a singles match with both men having a solid match with each other.
Shelton Benjamin and Xavier Woods would trade blows against each other in a match that gave RAW a boost, as RAW was starting to feel stale. The match would end after Shelton was distracted by Kofi Kingston outside the ring, giving Xavier Woods the chance to perform a small package to beat Shelton for the win and give The New day Momentum heading to next week.
With The New Day facing The Hurt Business for the RAW Tag Titles next week, it will be exciting to see who comes out on top in what should be a great match to watch.
3. The beginning of Bobby Lashley’s title reign
After his huge win over The Miz for the WWE Championship, last week on RAW, many eyes were glued to the opening of RAW to see what Bobby Lashley’s first actions as WWE Champion would be. Bobby would cut start the show, by cutting a solid promo about his long journey to become WWE Champion and how he has bounced back from huge setbacks throughout his career to finally become WWE Champion.
Lashley would then waste no time showing his power as WWE Champion as he faced The Miz in a rematch for the WWE Championship. The match between the two men was a solid encounter with The Miz getting some offense in, before eventually losing after Lashley applied The Hurt Lock to win and retain the WWE Championship
Kudos also have to be given to the presentation of Bobby Lashley as WWE Champion. His new entrance was amazing and showed off Lashley as a beast.
2. Randy Orton and AJ Styles main event RAW
Without a doubt, Randy Orton and AJ Styles have amazing in-ring chemistry together. Every time these two men have faced that have put on a solid encounter with each other, as Orton’s slow style working well with AJ’s more faster-paced style. AJ and Orton would once again deliver a solid match this week on RAW, with Aj getting the win after Alexa Bliss distracted Orton.
In a change of pace, Orton would catch AJ by surprise in the match, hitting him with multiple strikes after weeks of minds games from Alexa Bliss. Styles would later come back in the match hitting a performing a calf crusher only for Randy Orton to grab the rope for the break.
After Orton would hit his rope-assisted DDT, Orton would then go for the RKO only for Alexa Bliss to appear on the titantron to distract Orton, Orton would then start spewing black goo, allowing Styles to hit the Phenomenal Forearm for the win against Orton.
1. Drew Mcintyre and Sheamus destroy each other
After their brutal match last week on RAW, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus had some high expectations heading into their match this week, especially after it was announced that their match would be a no disqualifications match. Luckily Mcintyre and Sheamus would deliver and rise up to the occasion as they put on a brutal and intense match with both men looking strong.
After Sheamus attacked Drew Mcintyre backstage, Mcintyre would get revenge by attacking Sheamus during his entrance. Sheamus and Drew would exchange kendo stick strikes and chairshots with Sheamus even throwing a chair at Drew after Drew tried to hit the Claymore on Sheamus during the match.
The match would end in a no-contest after both men hit each other in the head with the steel steps, setting up a rematch with the two down the line.
These were my top 5 moments from RAW this week. What were your top 5 moments and who do you think will win the RAW Tag Title match next week? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
