Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
“It is great to be home in Jacksonville! It is great to be your Homecoming Title Tuesday! And fans, as you know, coming up in one week from Saturday at WrestleDream, on PPV and HBO Max, from St. Louis, the world title will be decided. And tonight, to start our Title Tuesday, we are going to have a face-to-face with the combatants. First of all, here is the champion of the world, hangman Adam Page!” Jacksonville fires up as The Cowboy makes his way to the ring, belt around the waist. Hangman nods, then steps into the ring. He shakes Schiavone’s hand, then Schiavone says what a battle it will be a week from Saturday.
And now, the challenger, the former world champion, Samoa Joe! The fans fire up again as The Opps all make their way out here, Joe in a very nice suit. Joe lets Will Hobbs hold onto his AEW World Trios Championship belt, then shakes Hobbs’ and Shibata’s hands before joining Schiavone and Hangman in the ring. Schiavone thanks them both for being here and to accepting the No Physicality Agreement. A week from Saturday is the big night, but for now, the floor is Hangman’s. Hangman picks up a mic to say, “There have been six years of AEW Dynamite all across the country, internationally, and for a long, long time, here in Daily’s Place.”
The fans cheer, and Hangman continues, “And in those six years, I have won, I have lost, I have committed arson, I have dressed as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and one time I think I might have been proposed to. But last week, I have never been as confused as I was last week, Joe, when you lost your composure with me. I volunteered, I volunteered, to team with you and Will Hobbs to fight the Death Riders, a fight that I had finished a long time ago. And when I won our team the match, you lost it. You absolutely lost it! Confused! Joe, you kicked, you screamed, and when security came down, you reached across and sucker punched me in the face.”
The fans boo those facts, and Hangman says, “Damn, I’m confused. But I wasn’t confused for long, because you looked me in the eye, and you yelled at me, ‘You never beat me!’ Ah, there it is. That’s what this is about. You stood across the ring from me, you saw me with the world championship, the championship that you once held, and a championship that we can both agree means more than anything in this entire sport. You know it and I know it. You saw me with it, and you decided in an instant that you wanted it. Joe, you have been angry for a long time, but not with me, and not even with the Death Riders.
“Joe, you have been angry with yourself, distracted from what’s important in professional wrestling. So Joe, you will get your chance at WrestleDream, but let me tell you this. I did not ask for you to have this opportunity because you kicked and screamed. I did not ask for you to have this opportunity because you sucker punched me in the face. Joe, I asked for you to have this chance because I owe you. I owe you. At All In, you, The Opps, have a dozen other people, you stepped in, you put your bodies and your health on the line to make sure that the fight between me and Jon Moxley for this championship, for the first time, would be a fair one. I appreciate that, I respect that, and I owe you for it.”
The fans applaud, and Hangman tells Joe that he understands that without that help, Hangman would never have won this title, no one could have. But the repayment for that gratitude stops there. At WrestleDream, Joe will have his chance to win the championship. But Joe, Hangman will not just let Joe take it from him. The fans cheer that! Joe now takes his turn, and the fans rally up with “JOE! JOE! JOE!” Joe says, “Ladies and gentlemen, everything this man has said is absolutely true. But since we’re here talking about uncomfortable truths, allow me to share a few of my own. Because you see, when I stare across the ring, my problem isn’t with the fact that you’re the champion.
“No, it’s that when I look at you, I don’t see the pinnacle of professional wrestling, I see a pretender.” The fans boo that, but Joe continues, “Because you’re right! The truth is, you wouldn’t be AEW World Champion without the timely intervention of The Opps, I’m sure of that. The truth is, you come out here, week after week, and nobody’s had your back but us, and if we didn’t, you would not be the man right now. And y’know what? You say this is sudden and unexpected? No, I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner. Because you’re right, I’d forgotten who I was.
“I was so blood-lusted with going after the Death Riders, I forgot that the prime target is the man that calls himself the champion. And you, my friend, are no champion.” The fans boo again but Joe says he’s on to Hangman! He doesn’t buy the “Fighting Champion” hustle! “Hey, young man, here’s an opportunity of a life time! Now you’ve got ten minutes to get ready for it.” It’s the oldest hustle in the book, and Joe gets it, that pads Hangman’s stats. Then Hangman’s coming out here with fake gratitude, talking about how he owes them? NO! Joe provided the opportunity, and he’s just coming to collect on what is owed.
The fans are torn here, but Joe continues: the most uncomfortable truth of all is that what’s standing in front of Joe right now is fraud, and Joe is coming to check him. So when they’re standing across the ring from each other, Joe will explain what is actually going to happen: he is going to beat, break, and torture Hangman! Hangman will get his licks in, he will fight back, he will give his best effort. But at some penultimate moment, Hangman will have his moment to be the man that he says he is, a real champion! And in that moment, Joe will choke Hangman unconscious and take the belt. And Hangman will wake up with the gift of truth: Joe showed Hangman who he really is, and Hangman will know his place in this world, a world with a rightful champion!
The fans cheer and Hangman paces. Hangman’s rebuttal: HE is the fraud? HE is the pretender? HE is not a world champion? Why is he always having to explain to tough guys like Joe that the proof of who Hangman is does not stand in their opinions of him? It stands when the bell rings! The fans cheer that, too! Joe is right, because with a bad neck and mangled head, Joe will beat Hangman’s ass for a good while. But for every shot Joe gives him, Hangman will give two back. And if Joe locks Hangman in that choke, Hangman will not tap again. Every second that ticks by in their match, the advantage will be in Hangman’s favor. Because Joe cannot outlast Hangman!
The fans cheer, Joe scowls, but Hangman says when the match is over and the final bell has rung, and Joe’s flat on his back, having been beat as fairly as possible, Hangman hopes Joe brings that same energy he brought to All In. he really does. He wants Joe to bring that love for professional wrestling! The love for the sanctity of this sport and this title! He hopes Joe can stand up, shake his hand, look him in the eye, and know that he IS the champion of the world! The fans are all fired up for that one! But the debate is now over, who will win the fight in St. Louis?
Backstage interview with The Conglomeration.
Alicia Atout is with Tomohiro Ishii, Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong to bring up the big night ahead of them tonight. Three huge matches- The Sussex County Chicken apologizes to Alicia as he interrupts, but he has it from here: Ladies and gentlemen, the word of the day is multifacetfication! Because tonight, The Conglomeration has a big night, baby! But not just tonight, but this whole week! Because on Collision: Homecoming, their girl, Willow Nightingale, teaming with Conglomeration-adjacent warriors, #JetSpeed, and there’s no doubt they will get the job done!
Here tonight in Jacksonville, it’s Kyle VS Kyle 2! Kyle is gonna whoop Kyle’s ass because Kyle whooped their guy, Hologram! And that will not go unpunished! THIS Kyle says that is right! We all know he DESPISES any other Kyle! So for the fans in attendance, cheer for this Kyle because if he hears one “Let’s Go, Kyle!” chant, Kyle is gonna lose it. Roddy says, “KYYYYLE~! Bring that title home.” Briscoe says not only that, but the Godfather of the Conglomeration, Freshly Squeezed Orange Cassidy is freshly back, and he will continue one of the oldest feuds in AEW as he takes on The Bastard, Pac, and will give him the beatdown he so rightfully deserves! Of that, Briscoe has no doubt!
And also, before all that, main man #BigTom, Tomohiro Ishii, takes on Jon Moxley, and that guaranteed to be a slobberknocker! Ishii is dropping bombs, time for the big win! Is he ready to do this? Ishii nods, but then Cassidy says wait. Hands in. Everyone else joins in, even Alicia, but Roddy is reluctant. Cooooonglomeration~! Time to go! We gettin’ down, baby! RAH RAH RAH~! Cassidy nods and says that was a lot, huh? Alicia says just a bit. Cassidy heads out now, but will tonight be all Conglomeration from top to bottom? Or will The Maniac have something to say about that?

Backstage interview with The Young Bucks.
Well, Renee Paquette wants a word with Matt & Nick, but they’re busy knocking on Tony Khan’s door. Renee asks what is going on. Nick says he needs one of those big money matches, he’s desperate. Renee says yes, they’re very hard up for cash, but shouldn’t they worry more about Jurassic Express? Jack Perry & Luchasaurus punked The Bucks out twice, and are in action tonight. Matt says haha, so funny. But yes, they know Jurassic Express is in action tonight. But guess what? The Bucks have two tickets to that match live later tonight. Nick asks how Matt afforded that. Matt says he had to “let go” of a few of their sneakers…
But that’s not the point. They just need to talk with Tony. Nick continues to bang on the door, and he even tells TK, “I need money, and I need it now!” Matt sighs, but will The Bucks get what they want? Or just what they deserve?

Backstage interview with The Don Callis Family.
And by that, we mean Renee Paquette is with the entire Don Callis Family: Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, Konosuke Takeshita, Rocky Romero, Josh Alexander, newest member in CLØN, and of course, The Jackal himself. Renee says they’re very busy for Title Tuesday as well as Collision: Homecoming. How does Don Callis strategize for this many members? Don says it’s simple: They’re just smarter and better than everyone else, so there’s no need to talk strategy. From each according to their ability, to DON according to Don’s needs, and what he needs is for Walking Weapon on Collision to destroy and dismantle Kota Ibushi!
Then let’s focus on tonight. We have Kyle VS Kyle 2, how is that gonna go down? Callis says O’Reilly is an irritant! O’Reilly is such a fan, a such mark, for Fletcher that he named himself after Fletcher! Uh, okay… Then let’s talk Double Jeopardy. If Brodido gets the win, one of them gets their shot at Okada’s Unified Championship. Callis says yes, that is technically true, but it’ll never happen. Wanna know why? Tell ’em, Rock! Romero says, “Well, El Jefe, last Friday night in Arena Mexico, Hechicero ripped Bandido’s shoulder out of the socket! You’re looking at the uncrowned ROH World Champion right now.”
Callis says Okada & Takeshita will work together under the banner of the family like a well-oiled machine! And after they defeat Brodido, Okada & Takeshita will roll into WrestleDream to win those AEW World Tag Team Championships. Then the Don Callis Family will once again have all the gold. Renee wishes them all luck, but which way will things go when Rainmaker & Alpha battle The King of Death & The Outlaw?
Jurassic Express VS Danny Orion & KM!
For the first time in 1200 DAYS, “Jungle” Jack Perry and Luchasaurus are teaming together in the ring! They reunited because they needed each other to get even with The Young Bucks, but will our former AEW World Tag Team Champions make quick work of

Jack is back but he gets hit with a DOUBLE SUPERKICK! The fans boo but The Bucks just soak it up. Matt then grabs a mic, hands it to Nick, and Nick tells Jack, “In the professional wrestling business, we call this a callback! MICROPHONE BODY BLOW!
Nick says at WrestleDream, it will be Jurassic Express VS The Young Bucks! Then they get Jack up, and Nick climbs, for a MELTZER DRIVER!! The Bucks soak up more heat as the fans tell them off, but will it only get worse at WrestleDream?
The Death Riders speak.
“Yuta! Pac! Get ’em!” The Bastard says, “Oi yoi yoi yoi yoi, Tangerine Balls! I bet you think this is personal, don’t ya? But I promise ya, it’s not, The Bastard is back, and I’m just looking for a little snack to get going. A little pipsqueak to whet my appetite. So tonight, I am going to do to you what I always do to you: I am going to outwrestle you, I am going to outpace you, and more importantly, I am going to make you suffer. And then, it’ll be onwards and upwards, because the Death Riders, we have ambition that far outweighs the likes of you. Tell ’em, Yuta.”
The Decoder says he and Cassidy used to be tight, which is why it’ll hurt him… almost as much as it hurts Cassidy. But if The Death Riders are to elevate AEW to the level we know it can reach, then they gotta trim the fat, cut the s*it, and separate the winners from the losers. Daniel Garcia joins in by saying, “It’s not about wins and losses, it’s not about getting your shoulders pinned to the canvas, it’s about mentality. And every day, I walk around and I see a lot of losers. But a winner is a choice. You gotta wake up every day and you gotta wanna win. We wake up every day, and we want to win. And that’s what we’re gonna do, we’re just gonna keep winning.
“We’re gonna win tonight, we’re gonna win next week, the week after that, we’re gonna keep winning. Because that’s what winners do>” The Death Riders head out, but will they complete that mission?
AEW TNT Championship: Kyle Fletcher w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer VS Kyle O’Reilly!
The fans are already chanting, “We Want Kyle!” “Kyle Sucks!” but no matter how you slice it, this one is going to light it up! But will the Aussie Arrow strike down The Violent Artist once again? Or will Kyle O’Reilly be the Face of TNT?
The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and the fight for Kyle supremacy begins again!

Sammy Guevara & The Beast Mortos speak.
Sammy hushes us, because “Everybody’s Favorite Pillar is about to talk.” Sammy tells Eddie Kingston that he didn’t win against Dralistico! He merely survived! But this week on Collision, it’ll be a different story. Eddie is not going against just a man, he is going up against LFI’s BEAST MORTOS! Mortos nods and growls, looking very stylish in polo and sunglasses. Sammy tells Eddie to say his prayers, say goodbye to his family, tell them he loves them, because after he fights Mortos, it’ll be adios! And that is Spanish for, “Goodbye!” Mortos roars, but will he bulldoze The Mad King?
Eddie Kingston & Hook respond.
The Mad King is already getting a headache, and Eddie says Sammy, another week of him talking trash. “Dralistico, I beat his ass because of you, Sammy. Now, Beast, again, again, stop letting Sammy talk for you, cuz he’s gonna get your ass kicked. See you on Collision, dawg.” Will The Mad King become the Homecoming King after making it through the monstrous minotaur?
AEW Double Jeopardy Tag Match: #Brodido VS Konosuke Takeshita & Kazuchika Okada!
As Don Callis and the family informed us, Bandido & Brody King are already at a disadvantage after the damage done by Hechicero just last Friday in Arena Mexico. The Most Wanted escaped the Wizard again, but will he and The King of Death get caught by The Alpha & The Rainmaker? Or will someone be facing Okada for that Unified Championship?
There’s already tension between Okada and Takeshita, and Okada doesn’t help by having his entrance step all over Takeshita’s. But Callis trusts his breadwinners will do just fine. Backstage interview with Willow Nightingale & #JetSpeed.
Renee is with The Babe with the Power, as well as Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey, and she brings up their Mixed Six Tag match for Collision, them against FTR & Megan Bayne. How did they get here? Bailey says, “It blows my mind that people have the audacity to call themselves the greatest tag team of all time, yet step in the ring, grab a microphone, and make excuses for their horrible actions. That’s why JetSpeed will always respect people like Willow Nightingale. People who have the courage to stand up to bullies. Because what happens when you stand up to bullies? They fall. And they all saw it last week!”
Knight says we all saw it when Dax was looking up at The Jet. Top Guys? Not sure they’re on top, because each week, they take the low road, the easy way out. Willow says pause on that for a second, because she wants to bring up the “surprise” they had for her. But really, it was more like surprises plural. Megan Bayne AND Penelope Ford! Doesn’t matter, though, because when the bell rings, it is 3v3. And it doesn’t matter if Ford is ringside or that little dweeb, what’s his name? The gnome? Strokely! But make sure go to Baby Gap and get a fresh tracksuit, because they’re ready for whoever, whenever. Top Guys DOWN! Babe with the JetSpeed UP!
FTR responds.
Title Tuesday returns as Stokely says they heard from JetSpeed just now, and blah blah blah. He will say that he does respect JetSpeed just a smidge, because they are willing to step into the ring with one of the greatest tag teams- No, actually, THE greatest tag team alive today, F T R. But there’s one person Stoke does not respect, and that is Willow Nightingale. Everyone knows that last week on Collision, Dax would’ve beat Kevin Knight if not for Willow! Everyone wants to laugh and joke about “Stokely gets no hoes,” but guess what? You don’t need hoes when you’ve got two bad b*tches who had Willow just as match as Stokely does!
Speaking of, Megan & Penelope step into frame, and The Superbad Girl says, “Look at us. We bring beauty and strength personified.” The Megasus says, “Balance is what I bring. You think that smiles and positivity make you some kind of hero, Willow? Let this be your reality check: Any universe where I walk, you don’t stand a chance.” Stoke says JetSpeed doesn’t stand a chance, either! So Saturday, Homecoming, FTR & Megan will put every single one of you in your place! Top Gu- Megan stops Stokely there, and says, Top Gods Out. Stokely nods, but will this strange alliance make all others #BowDown?
Backstage interview with Brodido.
Renee is with the AEW World Tag Team Champions as they return from ringside, and notes it didn’t go their way tonight. Bandido was obviously not 100%. Bandido says yes, but he won’t make excuses or to apologize. But things happen, and that loss was on him. Brody says no, Bandido is always the one that says to never stop fighting. That’s what they’re gonna do! They’ve been through harder, and at WrestleDream, it doesn’t matter if it is two incredible singles wrestlers on one team, because Bandido is THE best pro-wrestling walking this Earth right now! Brodido will leave St. Louis STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions!
Brody is confident even in defeat, but is the bad arm putting doubt in Bandido’s mind?
Orange Cassidy VS PAC!
This main event is a rematch that has been a long time coming, and it returns to where it all began! And if The Bastard is to be believed, he promised no one else will show up ringside, it will truly be 1v1. If that’s the case, who proves they are truly the better man?
The bell rings and the fans rally up as the two stare down. Cassidy and Pac slowly circle, then step up. Cassidy raises his hands, but Pac blocks them from reaching his pockets! Pac stands, and he watches Cassidy sputter. Pac refreshes the ring count, then he drags Cassidy up to put him in the ring. Pac ELBOWS Cassidy on the neck then he hushes the fans. The fans fire up as Cassidy rises, and he “fires” more chops! Pac brings the straps down to dare Cassidy to try that again. Cassidy ROCKS Pac! Pac ROCKS Cassidy! They go back and forth, harder and harder, and the fans rally behind Cassidy! Cassidy ROCKS Pac and Pac drops to a knee! The fans fire up for that, and Cassidy runs, but into a BOOT! Pac runs, but into a BOOT from Cassidy! Cassidy runs, Pac dodges, but then Cassidy dodges! DOUBLE FOREARMS hit!

The fans are going nuts, but then security TACKLES Darby to stop him from going too far! It’s one thing for these two to have an I Quit Match, but could someone commit nothing short of manslaughter in St. Louis?!
My Thoughts:
Another great Dynamite as part of Homecoming Week. AEW: Where the Best Wrestler, but DAMN do they also love to talk! Did Renee really need to interview everyone every time? It’s nice to get everyone’s reactions to things, but c’mon. Though I suppose they had to reach 2.5 hours so why not just shove everything you can into the show. We got a good promo from Willow & JetSpeed, and a good response from FTR, Megan & Penelope. The Mixed Six could go either way, and as I said last week, it’ll surely lead to separate matches like FTR VS JetSpeed and Willow VS Megan.
Good promo from Don Callis Family, though it was obviously more Callis and Fletcher. The Conglomeration’s promo with Alicia was better, mostly because they played up the comedy of Kyle VS Kyle. Awesome match from the Kyles, but I figured Fletcher would win out. Very good brawl after, and naturally, this led back to Fletcher VS Briscoe for the title at WrestleDream. At this point, it feels like Fletcher just wins again, but then that’d be a real shame for Briscoe, he deserves to have something after all the great work he’s put in. Lacey Lane was a great choice for Mone’s opponent tonight, great match, but of course Mone won. New historical streak achieved, but again, they’re obviously steering this Money Train towards at least ten titles.
Awesome tag match from Brodido VS Okada & Takeshita, Okada & Takeshita winning made the most sense really. There’s a very good chance Konosuke ditches Okada so that Brodido retains, and then we can bridge into Okada VS Konosuke for Full Gear. Hilarious stuff with “The Broke Bucks,” and while Jurassic Express of course won their match, I appreciate they were able to have a bit of fun with it, including those “Jungle Life” beach balls going around. The Bucks getting the jump on Jurassic Express and then standing tall, they’re definitely not winning the tag match, even if there’s a big money jackpot attached.
Great opening promo from Hangman and Samoa Joe, it added a lot of fire to this feud. I would think Hangman finds a way to win against Joe, but that match is still going to be great. Very good Six Man Street Fight, and great win for The Hurt Syndicate. Though, they really should set up some third Six Man Tag, like an Elimination Tag or a cage match, something as the blowoff to then send the winners to the Trios Championships. And great stuff with The Death Riders and the rest of Conglomeration. Great match from Moxley VS Ishii, and an awesome match from Pac VS Cassidy. Pac is JACKED, and the new gear looks good.
Great stuff with Darby helping Cassidy, and then how wild for Darby to have pepper spray, a stun gun and a Molotov cocktail. The spray might’ve been a bit reckless cuz I could tell Darby did get some of it back in his face. I feel like AEW should step in and say this isn’t just I Quit, but like Lights Out/Unsanctioned I Quit, because they don’t wanna be liable for whatever else Darby thinks up. Moxley VS Darby may not be the main event but it might steal the show for just how insane it’ll get.
My Score: 8.9/10

The Death Riders speak.
It was after AEW Dynamite on Wednesday that Jon Moxley said, “Every time I step into the ring with Kyle O’Reilly, I can’t find a way to win. It’s been failure after failure after failure. Kyle O’Reilly has tapped me out, twice. Ipso facto, Kyle O’Reilly will be the new Continental Champion. You might think. But the Jon Moxley of six months ago is not the same as Jon Moxley of today. Who I will be tomorrow is better than who I am today. Logic and strategy would dictate that I should stay as far away from Kyle O’Reilly as I can. Because there’s no doubt about it, Kyle, you have my number.
The thing about this Continental Championship, it’s good bait. All the dragons I wanna slay come right to my door. I will do what I’ve done for 22 years surviving in this business, Kyle: I’m gonna find a way.” The Maniac heads out, and Claudio Castagnoli steps forward to tell Brody King that Brody always brings the bark. But if he steps in the ring with Claudio in the Owen Hart Tournament, he better bring the bite. Pac then says, “Nobody gets special treatment. It doesn’t matter who you are, Death Riders against the world.” Daniel Garcia says yeah, let’s get it! Yuta repeats, “Against the world.” Marina Shafir tells the world, “Bring it, you p*ssies!”

Will Ospreay speaks.
It was also after Dynamite that The Aerial Assassin told Samoa Joe, “My apologies for not getting back to any of your messages, been a little bit busy training and getting myself ready for The Owen. Surprised to see you there in the opening round, mate. It’s gonna be a tough one. But if you can just bear with me for a hot second while I explain to you… Six months of my life got taken away from me, mate. Six months, I’ve been sitting in front of a TV screen, watching AEW, looking at it, trying to get my strength back in my arms, rushing to get back. That’s six months of frustration, six months of anger. And then I finally had my kill shot on Dynasty, and I lost.
“And ever since then, man, I’ve been struggling with my matches. Doc even stopped one for my own safety. I’m annoyed that I didn’t get revenge on Jon. But I’m more upset at the idea that I can’t be the guy that AEW put their trust in once upon a time. Regardless of how I feel about Jon, regardless of how I feel about The Death Riders, there’s nothing that I can say that’ll make people ever understand. But Jon Moxley is the Ace, he’s a soldier for this place. And while his methods might be sick, there are people who stand up to see him get elevated. So what could it happen with him in my corner?
“Joe, I’ve got nothing but respect for ya. Everything that you’ve done in this industry. Mate, you were in the match that made me want to become a pro-wrestler. But no one, no one, is stopping me from winning The Owen. And I find it very poetic that the man takt took away my old life has given me a second chance of capturing the world championship.” The Billy Goat is ready to become something more, but will Samoa Joe make sure Ospreay goes Double or Nothing and loses?

Backstage interview with Sammy Guevara.
Lexy Nair is with The Spanish God and brings up how he called out Darby Allin just last night at Supercard of Honor for the AEW World Championship. But just like last night, Sammy hushes “Chica” Lexy, and says, “Everybody’s Favorite Pillar is about to talk, so zip it and listen. Darby, I don’t need to call my shot against you because I looked through the history books, and history’s on my side. I’ve beaten you not once, not twice, not three times, I’ve beaten you four times. When I look at the history books, I’m a three-time TNT Champion while you, you’ve only held that belt twice.
“So I’m gonna beat you tonight like I’ve beaten you before. I’m gonna stamp my ticket to Double or Nothing, and MJF, I know you’re watching, you sociopath. I’m gonna beat you next week and I’m gonna shave you BALD! But don’t worry, I’ll give you a nice little fade. Because I am the best! I am the best wrestler, I am the best talker, I am the best this planet has! I’m the Spanish God, dammit! I’m number one, I’ve been here since day one, and there’s only one way this is gonna go: With me as the NEW AEW World Champion! Darby, your time is up, and my time is now. Because I am Numero Uno. That means ‘number one.'”
Sammy heads out, but is his big head only going to get in the way tonight?
Backstage interview with Darby Allin.
Collision returns and Lexy is now with said AEW World Champion. She brings up the five title defenses in 21 days, an AEW record! But tonight is number six against someone Darby’s known for a long time in Sammy Guevara. Darby says when he showed up today, he asked if anyone had seen MJF yet. Then he thought, “What a stupid question. Of course he’s not gonna be at Collision.” MJF is not a company man, he only cares about himself. And those same people asked back, why is Darby back? Why is Darby defending his title again? Double or Nothing is next Sunday, why is Darby risking losing this? Because Darby loves this!
And if there’s anyone in this company as crazy as Darby, it is Sammy Guevara. Darby loves it! Darby realizes this could all end tonight, and Speedball wants his match on Wednesday? Well, if Darby walks out here tonight, then on Dynamite, it’s Showtime! Darby thanks Lexy then heads back out. Will the Relentless Reign be an unstoppable one? The 5 Tool Player shows the power of Joe’s teachings, but he also gets the mic to say, “For the last year, I have been confused. But I have found solace and clarity in the fact that i Have found a group of men, The Opps, that understand everything I do for this business, everything I do for AEW, and everything I do for you!” The fans cheer, and Bowens continues by saying everywhere he goes, he represents the fans, because he is the Pride of Pro-Wrestling! He is your hero! And to be honest, for everything that he does, he deserves a standing ovation! Joe certainly applauds, and the fans here in Salisbury join in!
Bowens says if you’re asking what this change of attitude is about… This man, Samoa Joe, has been teaching Bowens all he needs to know: choices have consequences; and if you don’t like the way the table is set, you flip that table over and you choose violence! The fans cheer, and now Joe speaks on the mic. “Oh, Ospreaaaay~…! Do you understand what I do for my friends? But unfortunately, decisions have consequences, and you chose a different road, Will. So allow me to say this: I am truly beyond honored that you consider facing me a dream match.” The fans cheer that, but Joe says it’s just unfortunate that when he gets Ospreay in the ring, “it’ll be nothing but a nightmare.”
Joe & Bowens have made it clear that no matter who, no matter where, and no matter what, The Opps will not show mercy. Will nothing stop The Opps from taking it all here in AEW?
Backstage interview with #Brodido.
Lexy Nair is with Brody King & Bandido, and wants to talk the Owen Hart Tournament. Brody is set to face Claudio while Bandido is up against Swerve Strickland. Now, if they both win their matches, that pits them against teach other in the semifinals. But what they also needs to talk about is last night, Supercard of Honor, Bandido retained the title, only for Swerve to attack. Brody tells Swerve that he warned him about what would happen if Swerve messed with the people Brody cared about! Next time Brody sees Swerve, he’ll- Bandido stops Brody there, and says no, no, hermano. Bandido loves you, but this is Bandido’s battle, and Brody needs to respect that.
So Bandido tells Swerve that this is a battle Swerve will not win! Swerve may be the Most Dangerous, but Bandido is the Most Wanted! And after Double or Nothing when Bandido beats Swerve, Swerve won’t be a danger to anyone anymore! Both sides of Brodido have spoken, but will either of them knock down Swerve’s House? Or will Swerve’s thirst for power be satiated with the Owen Hart Cup?

AEW hears from the four fighting for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Kris Statlander says, “At Double or Nothing, I face three women, one who I hate, one who I respect, and one who I’m still not sure about.” The hated one, Thekla, says there’s only one way this ends when she’s up against dumb b*tch after dumb b*tch after dumb b*tch. The respected one, Jamie Hayter, says she had the title stripped away from her and it’s eluded her ever since. And the uncertainty, Hikaru Shida, says even though it is every one for themselves, she knows she and Kris will be on the same page, just like always! Kris says y’know who really has her back? Kris herself! That’s all she needs! Jamie warns Thekla that she’s gonna find out, unfinished business is her favorite kind!
Thekla says Double or Nothing, the Toxic Spider destroys New York! A Fatal 4 Way of epic proportions await, will there be nothing left after the dust clears?
Backstage interview with Athena and Mina Shirakawa.
Lexy Nair is with the ROH Women’s World Champion and the Fighting Gravure Idol, and thanks them for accepting the No Physicality Agreement. They are on a collision course in the opening round of the Owen Hart Tournament, this has gotta be a tough one. Athena says maybe, maybe not, but the facts are this: Athena has been the ROH Women’s World Champion for over 1252 DAYS, and has left of dozens of bodies in her wake. Pretty sure Mina’s one of them. Mina says last year at All In, Athena broke Mina’s hand. Athena says so what! Last year at Death Before Dishonor, she kicked Mina’s ass all over the arena! Why does Mina think this match will be any different?
Mina laughs and says last night at Supercard, when she locked in the Figure Four on her opponent, she dreamt it was Athena. Athena says Mina is dreaming of her! So flattered! But she hopes Mina has the best dream tonight: Mina’s dead body in a ditch, next to her precious Toni Storm! Mina tells Athena that Mina has dreamt of winning The Owen and the AEW Women’s World title, while ending Athena! She can’t dream anymore, because now she will live it! Athena says sure, sure. They argue, but Lexy keeps them from getting physical! Will the Fallen Goddess be unstoppable even in AEW? Or will The Owen will be about #MinaNow?
Backstage interview with Lio Rush.
Nigel McGuinness tracked down The Problem Child, and walks over. Lio says hey, Nigel! Good to see you! He saw Nigel put in that work last night, he did great. He did really good. Nigel appreciates that, that’s what he wants to talk about. Specifically, what happened between Lio and his former tag team partner, Action Andretti. Action cost Lio the ROH World TV Championship, what is Lio’s response? Lio says it’s all fine! It’s fine! These things happen, Nigel. Losses happen, friends get upset. It’s fine. It’s fine. Lio keeps saying that, and Nigel says that is the official response. Lio again says it’s good to see Nigel.
But then Lio takes off his sunglasses to show off those creepy eyes. He smiles, and that black goo drools out… Lio continues to say it’s fine, but is it anything but fine? Or should Action learn to sleep with one eye open?

Backstage interview with Anna Jay.
Lexy Nair is with the Queenslayer and commends her on that great return match against Willow Nightingale a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to stop the Comeback Killer. Anna gives all the respect to Willow, her moves hurt. Maybe Anna dove into the deep end, but she didn’t drown. So while Willow is still TBS Champion, maybe Willow isn’t quite the Comeback Killer. Anna came back, is still here, and there is still a lot left for them to do. And by that, she means her and Tay Melo! The besties reunite, and Tay says if Anna is back, and she is back, then there’s one thing they gotta do.
Anna tells if they wanna find out what that is, #JustTryUs! TayJay is back again, but are they going to fight their way right to the Divine Dominion’s tag titles?
AEW World Championship No Count Outs: Darby Allin VS Sammy Guevara!
The Relentless One may have gotten MJF to accept the Double or Nothing challenge, but he is always up for a fight! The Spanish God still has the ROH World Tag Team Championship around his waist, but he wants even more gold to show off to his wife and daughter! Who gets what they want tonight to then head for Queens, New York?
As he makes his entrance, Sammy brings a table out from under the ring and sets it up ringside, planning ahead for the wild fight he and Darby are about to have! Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)
As if his reign wasn’t wild and reckless before, Darby just doubled down with Sammy here tonight! And yet, he’s now set for a showdown with Speedball in Portland! Will no one and nothing stop Darby Allin from doing this again and again? Or is he about to write a check his body can’t cash?
My Thoughts:
A great Collision that not only fed Double or Nothing but did a great job following up ROH Supercard of Honor, assuring fans that ROH does matter after all, despite the lack of building contenders and therefore new champions. I mean, Athena is STILL champion, even when Survival of the Fittest was the best way to dethrone her while protecting her. But good interaction from Athena and Mina ahead of their Owen Hart Cup match, and if Athena is going to still be champion even now, she might as well just be a finalist already. On the other end, it’d be great if Willow also got to the finals to potentially be a two-time Queen of Harts.
Speaking of Willow, great promo with Conglomeration, great match with Red Velvet, but with Velvet still the ROH Women’s World TV Champion, it makes sense that Willow retains her title. Great Six Man Tag from Conglomeration VS Shane Taylor Promotions, and The Conglomeration’s win helps them build momentum towards all their stories. Very good promo from Kyle, very good promo from Death Riders, and I feel like Kyle should at least last the 20 minute time limit to earn his title match with Moxley for Double or Nothing. Meanwhile, Cassidy & Roddy are NOT winning against FTR, FTR has to settle things with Cope & Christian first.
Ciampa going after Briscoe, that whole brawl, and then Briscoe upping the ante for Dynamite, that No Disqualification match is going to be awesome. Very good tag match of Joe & Bowens VS Lethal & Lee, with a good win for The Opps. Very good promo from Joe & Bowens after, and a very good promo from Ospreay, too. Joe VS Ospreay could be a show stealer, but I would think Ospreay wins so that his story with The Death Riders can be part of the Owen Cup. TayJay being back together is great, and I can see them going right at Divine Dominion and easily lasting the five minutes to then earn their title match later on.
Great Six Man Tag of Davis & Dogs VS Rascalz, but with Stadium Stampede looming, naturally Davis & Dogs won to bring momentum for their team. I’d expect The Demand to have their own tune-up for the three-hour super show go-home next week, but they might’ve announced that tonight if that were the case. Very good promo from Lio Rush to further this Jekyll & Hyde/Smeagle & Gollum type of gimmick for him. For those who didn’t watch Supercard (or haven’t read my article on it), Action Andretti turned on Lio Rush and partially blamed Lio’s new dark side for it. RIP CRU, we hardly knew you, but Action VS this Lio is going to be great stuff between AEW and ROH programming.
And of course, another insane instant classic from Darby Allin as he and Sammy use No Count Outs to get hardcore. Good bit of selling from Darby to tease his body giving out on him, but naturally he wins out. They might do a similar spot during his match against Speedball on Wednesday to make it seem MJF has a chance of taking the title at Double or Nothing.
My Score: 8.9/10

MJF arrives backstage.
Renee Paquette is there to bring up tonight’s main event is Darby Allin VS Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW World Championship. If Darby Allin wins, MJF will then have to sign a contract for Title VS Hair at Double or Nothing. Darby has made it clear that if MJF doesn’t sign said contract, Darby will never allow MJF to face him for the title again. We all know how important the title is for MJF, but is MJF willing to put his hair on the line for it? MJF just chuckles and moves on, but he notices the very bald Rick Knox, Bryce Remsburg, and the head of security, David Aponte. And then various bald members of the production staff…
And then even Christopher Daniels & Sonjay Dutt are there! Daniels and Sonjay chuckle before moving on, and then MJF sees John Silver flexing. Brandon Cutler, some arena staff, and even Tommaso Ciampa, all bald. Then last but certainly not least, Ricochet! He tells MJF that don’t worry, he’ll look great. Just not as good as Ricochet. AHA~! MJF storms off, will he have no choice but to choose between gold belt and chrome dome?
10 Man Tag: Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage & The Young Bucks VS Tommaso Ciampa, David Finlay, Clark Connors & FTR w/ Stokely Hathaway!

Another star-studded 10 Man Tag, and it was a huge win for all the hungry contenders. Christian doesn’t wanna celebrate, but he does signal that he and Cope will be champions. Will putting their tag team legacy on the line be enough to take the gold? Or will Double or Nothing be the last night that team reeks of awesomeness?
Will Ospreay continues to train with The Death Riders.
They’re outside this time, Claudio Castagnoli playing some wall ball with Marina Shafir and Pac. Daniel Garcia says, “Tonight is the night that we’ve all been waiting for: The Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay, is cleared and back on Dynamite. And rumor has it, the kid’s been working real hard and he’s got some new tricks up his sleeves. So Young Boy Billy, tonight you gotta show me something, c’mon.” Garcia gets a quick turn in on wall ball while cameras move over. Ospreay is maintaining a neck bridge while Jon Moxley uses Wheeler Yuta as a living dummy to show just how to push and pull and bend and twist on the various chinlocks and headlocks.
Use the right arm to push against the head, then snake in the left arm for the sleeper. Pry and shoot. Moxley asks how Ospreay feels. Ospreay lets off the bridge and says honestly, the best he’s felt in forever. Moxley asks if Ospreay remembers the night he won the Best of the Super Juniors. Yeah, 2019. AKA a lifetime ago. Ospreay was carefree, flew like a bird, for no other reason than that’s just what birds do. So simple back then, chasing that feeling, like no other feeling in the world. Can’t really grab it in your hands for more than a few seconds. The joy of doing it. Then everybody comes in and tries to make it so overcomplicated.
Years pass, life happens, a family starts, responsibilities show up, bad things happen, bad choices catch up to you, and it’s all weight on your shoulders. You feel like you can’t fly. But Moxley will tell you something: Nothing is different. Nothing has changed. All those things are still gonna be there, but you can still fly. You’re just more dangerous now. You’re a bird of prey. So tonight, when you got out there, don’t go out there to protect anything. Not your neck, your image, your reputation, or what you’ve built in your career. Go out there to give something. Moxley checks on Yuta and says dammit, if you’re gonna snap a headlock, snap the headlock!
Moxley storms off to instruct his pupil, but will Ospreay use everything he has been taught to great effect? Or will he have to fold against Ace Austin?
Chris Jericho speaks.
“You wanna face Jericho in a match of my own design, Ricochet? A spectacle so innovative, so imaginative, it cannot be contained, it can only be witnessed. Well, be careful what you demand, because you’ve made a few enemies yourself, Ricochet. And now a match designed specifically to settle scores without any, and I mean AAANY~, limitations has gotten even bigger.” Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate were just looking for two more, but “Jungle” Jack Perry said he can bring four: himself, The Young Bucks, and KENNY OMEGA! Jericho tells Ricochet that this is no longer what he designed, but it is a devil’s dance of destruction! Ricochet’s destruction!
Ricochet got what he wanted, now can he handle it? Bald. The first-ever SEVEN VS SEVEN Stadium Stampede, who will even survive?
Ricochet & The Demand respond.
They stand with Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family and Ricochet says we all know Jericho does a lot of talking out of his ass while The Demand gets things done. Just like Davis did when he defeated Jack for the AEW National Championship at Fairway to Hell. Hold it with pride, Davis, Ricochet knows you’ll do it well. Davis says he’s got this. Ricochet says Davis has joined the dream team, but he’s not the only one. Because compliments to Ricochet’s golfing buddy, Don Callis, look who else he’s sending: Andrade El Idolo! Gracias, amigo. But it doesn’t stop there, the train keeps rolling. Ricochet was just approached by two guys who have an ax to grind with the superkick sidekicks.
These two wanna fill out the last two spots, so who is Ricochet to say no to The Dogs? Finlay & Connors storm in, and Finlay says to put it simple, they will fight The Bucks in the streets, in the ring, but guess it’s fighting at Double or Nothing! If they want violence, if they want carnage, if they want chaos, who better than The Dogs?! The Dogs bark and Liona roars, but will these seven stand tall in the Big Apple?
“Speedball” Mike Bailey w/ Kevin Knight VS BK Westbrook!
JetSpeed has a lot of momentum on their side, and as stated last week at Fairway to Hell, they’re looking to grab up all the gold they can. Will Speedball keep on rolling towards his own golden opportunity? Or will #Supastud prove his own worth?
The bell rings and the fans rally as the two step up. Bailey bows in respect, offers a handshake, but Westbrook goes to roll Bailey up! Bailey stays on his feet, then steps over to sit down on a cover, TWO! Westbrook ducks a Penalty Kick, avoids the moonsault, and the sweep! Bailey dodges, Westbrook tiger feints through the ropes, but Bailey handsprings up and over! The fans fire up as Bailey ducks an elbow to whip. Westbrook goes up, around, but kinda fumbles his tumble. The fans cheer and jeer him for his attempt, but Westbrook blocks the boot! Westbrook FLIPS Bailey, springboards in, but Bailey dodges! TIME ADVENTURE!
Bailey pushes Westbrook down, goes up the corner, and the fans fire up for the ULTIMATE WEAPON! Cover, Bailey wins!

At Stadium Stampede, bring your friends, bring any weapon you want, and I will crack you over the skull with it. Because anything goes. But after that, it’s back to grass roots, because it is you and me, fighting for a shot at the world title at All In: London. Winner: Will Ospreay, by submission
That might’ve been Ospreay’s first win by submission ever! He signals that his neck is no longer a problem, and he shows Ace respect for that fight. Ace accepts the handshake again, and Ospreay is moving on towards Double or Nothing with a great amount of momentum. But wait! SAMOA JOE is here! He and The Opps walk out on stage, and with mic in hand, Joe says, “Ospreay, Ospreay… OSPREAY, OSPREAY!” Joe is clearly mocking the chants for Ospreay, and the fans give genuine chanting and even singing in return. Joe says he just wanted to make sure Ospreay was listening, because these past few weeks, it seemed like Ospreay had a hard time hearing him.
Despite Ospreay’s best efforts, fate has put them on a collision course in the opening round of the Owen Hart Cup. The fans like the sound of that! Joe say she is here for one reason and one reason alone. He wants to speak about choices and consequences. Ospreay could’ve made the right choice and get a bye in this tournament, because that is what Joe would do for one of his friends. But Ospreay chose poorly. He could’ve been with the team that would do nothing but support and enhance Ospreay, but he decided to be a lapdog for Moxley and the Death Riders. The fans boo, Ospreay says he’s not a Death Rider.
Joe says Ospreay has made his choice, and come Double or Nothing, Joe makes Ospreay suffer the consequences. But Joe leaves Ospreay in peace tonight, for he has his date with destiny. But unfortunately, Joe’s friends, Katsuyori Shibata & Anthony Bowens, still feel slighted, and he doesn’t put leashes on his friends. Shibata & Bowens storm down the ramp, Ospreay ready to fight them both if he has to. But then The Death Riders appear! Ospreay may not have officially joined the club, but the Death Riders aren’t going to let their investment go to waste! The Opps say they’re #NeverLacking, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now!
Shibata & Bowens back down while Moxley, Marina, Claudio, Yuta, Garcia & Pac all step up to support Ospreay. Joe says, “Soon. Soon.” The fans cheer the Death Riders, or at least Moxley, but Bowens promises Joe is gonna kill you, Ospreay! The dream match for Double or Nothing is on, but will the training with The Death Riders make Ospreay the new King of Harts?
BREAKING NEWS for next week!
If you liked last week’s THREE HOUR block of AEW, then you’ll love this next one! Portland, Maine, the last Wednesday before Double or Nothing, Dynamite & Collision are combining forces again! Three hours all on TBS and HBO Max, make sure your DVR is set accordingly!
Backstage interview with Don Callis & Konosuke Takeshita.
Renee is now with The Invisible Hand & The Alpha, saying tonight is a huge opportunity in the main event, Konosuke facing Darby Allin for THE AEW World Championship. Konosuke could be heading into Double or Nothing as a- Callis stops Renee there to say Konosuke will be heading into Double or Nothing as a DOUBLE champion! But then MJF steps in, apologizes for the interruption but says Renee’s doing a great job. The Scumbag tells Konosuke that while it’s been a minute since the two of them have talked, three years actually, back when MJF beat him… MJF has seen Konosuke develop into truly one of the best wrestlers in the world!
MJF believes that tonight, Konosuke beats Darby for the title, goes to DON to beat Okada, and MJF can’t think of a better match than Konosuke VS MJF Part 2 for the world title. How’s that sound? MJF offers a handshake, Konosuke shakes his hand, but in Japanese, Konosuke tells MJF that he’ll beat the crap out of him. Thankfully, MJF doesn’t know Japanese. Callis says that was a nice pep talk MJF just gave, and MJF says yes, he knows. That kid needs to win, okay? MJF can’t let Darby turn him into some disgusting, bald freak! No offense, Callis looks great. But look, there is only one foolproof way to know MJF won’t be put in that situation.
So if things get hairy… MJF hands over the Dynamite Diamond Ring! Callis smiles, and say she understands what to do with it. But then in steps Andrade. El Idolo takes off his hat to shake out his amazing head of hair, and smiles at MJF. MJF frowns and leaves. Callis says here’s the deal: Takeshita will bring the world title home to the Don Callis Family tonight! Andrade asks, “How you know?” Callis says aye dios mio, he seriously doesn’t know where Andrade learned English. Andrade says one way or another, the next time, that will be HIS title. Callis says yes, he knows, it’s all good. Callis is a man of many talents, but will his family be dripping with gold thanks to a diamond ring?
AEW now announces the Women’s Owen Hart Memorial Tournament brackets!
Double or Nothing will see Willow Nightingale, the reigning Queen of Harts, take on Alex Windsor, while we will see Persephone VS Hazuki, Skye Blue vs Sareee, and Mina Shirakawa VS Athena! Champions from around the world are gathering for this tournament, but who will be headed to Forbidden Door, and then All In: London?
Backstage interview with The Conglomeration.
Renee Paquette is now with Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Willow Nightingale. Renee commends Cassidy on his part in the 10 Man Tag victory. But it seems that there is even more business to attend to. Cassidy says yes, the team has a shot at THE AEW World Tag Team Championships. It doesn’t matter who it is, they’re getting their shot, but the thing is… They still haven’t decided on which two will be. Kyle says Cassidy & Roddy should go for the gold, but Roddy shouts, “KYYYLE~! Thank you.” Kyle says of course. But that’s cuz he’s got gold to chase for himself!
The same man that put Kyle on the shelf for months is the man that Kyle submitted twice, and will submit again. Jon Moxley, Continental Champion, when are we doing this? Willow says speaking of gold, she is still the TBS Champion. But she is also in the Owen Hart Cup. She won this tournament before, she’ll do it all over again, so that she can have all the gold for herself at All In: London. She knows she can, and she will! Then Conglomeration has it all in order? Cassidy says hold on, there’s something missing. They should do a Word of the Day. Why haven’t they done one in so long? Roddy shouts for “MAAARK~!” And yes, Mark Briscoe returns!
The Sussex County Chicken is all fired up, and he says the Word of the day is reunification! For Mark Briscoe is back with his boys and his girls, The Conglomeration! But he’ll put this plain and simple: Tommaso Ciampa! Next Wednesday, Briscoe’s after your ass, son! You hear him? But before that, Saturday Night Collision is in HIS hometown, Salisbury, Maryland! That’s just 4.4 miles from where Briscoe originated on this earth! They’re gonna conglomerate and it’s gonna be a a hell of a time! Are you ready!? Willow and Kyle are fired up, Briscoe goes wild, and the team heads out. Cassidy admits, that was a lot of yelling.
But while The Conglomeration is ready to go Double or Nothing, will they soon have even more gold in the collection? Or are these high and lofty a little too much even for them?
Six Woman Tag: Hikaru Shida & The Brawling Birds VS The Triangle of Madness!
With the news of both the AEW Women’s World Championship Fatal 4 Way for Double or Nothing, and the Owen Hart Cup brackets, this trios match is about much more than just settling scores! Will the Shining Samurai be just as sharp as Jamie Hayter going into that title match? Or will Thekla, Skye Blue & Julia Hart continue to bring them down by any means necessary?
The trios sort out and Jamie steps up against Thekla as both a rematch from their 1v1 title match, and a preview of what’s to come in the next. They circle, but then Skye CLOBBERS Jamie! Jamie gets Thekla back in the ring while Shida and Windsor have the Sisters of Sin in the corners of the barriers. The fans cheer as they all rain down fists!
Windsor, Jamie & Shida all go to nine, then wind up for TEN! The fans cheer again while Thekla sputters. Jamie snap suplexes, but Skye ROCKS Shida! Jamie stomps Thekla, Windsor SLAMS Julia off barriers, and Jamie stomps a mudhole in the corner. The ref counts, Jamie lets off, but Skye and Windsor meet while tightrope walking the barriers! Skye and Windsor trade shots, they wobble a bit, then Skye DECKS Windsor! Skye keeps from falling into the crowd, but Jamie gets her! Windsor joins in and the Birds double gorilla press, SNAKE EYES off the apron! The fans fire up, but Thekla is up top! SUPER CROSSBODY onto The Birds!
The fans fire up again and Thekla is feeling it while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Thekla stomps Windsor, CLUBS Jamie, then helps Skye. But Shida runs up, only for Thekla to ELBOW her down! The Triangle has control again, they ROCK Jamie and Shida and Windsor, then send them all to the desk. The Triangle CHOP again and again and again! Then they wind up, but feint chops to SMACK all three off the apron! The Triangle soaks up the cheers and jeers before putting Jamie back in the ring. Thekla brings Jamie up, snapmares her down, then basement SUPERKICKS! Cocky cover, TWO! Thekla drags Jamie to the corner, tags Julia, and Julia runs up to LARIAT! Then she goes side to side to ELBOW Jamie down!
Julia snapmares Jamie to a cover, TWO! Julia is annoyed but she rains down fists. The ref reprimands, Julia stops, but then she sucker punches Windsor! And Shida, too! Julia then drags Jamie over, bumps her off buckles, and tags in Skye. Skye stomps Jamie around, then digs her boot in! The ref counts, Skye stops at 4, then she brings Jamie up. Jamie fires forearms and CHOPS, but Skye THROWS Jamie down by her hair! The ref reprimands again but Skye rains down forearms. Skye snapmares Jamie, mule kicks her, then covers, TWO! Skye frowns but she stomps Jamie down. Skye tags Julia while Dynamite returns to single picture.
Skye whips Jamie into Julia’s grasp, and Skye BLASTS Shida & Windsor while Julia tags Thekla. Julia has Jamie in the TARANTULA, and Skye sends Windsor in for Thekla’s HANGING HEADSCISSORS! Skye runs up to DOUBLE SHOTGUN The Birds! The fans are torn but Thekla says that’s how the Triangle does it, baby! Thekla then aims to MISSILE- NO, Jamie gest under! Thekla lands out, but Jamie BOOTS her down! Jamie looks at Shida, Shida is hesitant, but Shida tags in! The fans cheer as Shida sends Theknla to the corner, then JUMP KNEES! Shida keeps moving, she BLASTS Skye! Julia ROCKS Shida back!
Julia storms in but Shida kicks her and whips her into Thekla! Shida KNEES them both in the corner! Then Shida puts Thekla sideways in the corner, reels Julia in, and she snap suplexes Julia into Thekla! The fans fire up as Shida then suplexes Thekla high and hard! Cover, TWO! Shida stands Thekla up, Thekla swings but Shida ROCKS her first! And ROCKS her again! Thekla wobbles, swings, but Shida catches Thekla for another forearm! Shida runs the ropes but Thekla mule kicks! Thekla SMACKS Shida, then she dodges a boot to DECK Shida! Thekla talks trash on Shida, then drags her up to tag in Julia.
Julia tags Skye, then tag back to Thekla. The Sisters of Sin hit the DOUBLE GOURD BUSTER and DOUBLE SUPERKICKS! Thekla hits the bridge, and she aims for the SPIDER SPEAR! Cover, but The Birds CLOBBER The Sisters of Sin onto it! The fans fire up a Windsor DECKS Skye and Jamie HEADBUTTS Julia! The Birds drag Shida to safety, Windsor tags in, and she CLOBBERS Thekla! Windsor CLUBS away, then fires the fans up. Jamie steps in, BOOT RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP COMBO! Basement LARIAT! And then Windsor lifts! Jamie runs up, but Skye trips Jamie! The fans boo but Skye sends Jamie into steel steps!
Thekla sends Windsor into buckles! Tag to Julia before Shida runs up, TAMASHII KNEE on Thekla! Skye SUPERKICKS Shida! Jamie is back to clinch and HAYTBREAKER! Julia runs up, slips around, SOLE FOOD! Julia kips up, but Windsor is there to whip Julia to ropes! Skye tags in before the SPINEBUSTER! Skye SUPERKICKS Windsor, then brings her up! Skye hops on, CODE- NO, Windsor pops free! Skye SUPERKICKS again, but Windsor HEADBUTTS! The fans fire up as Jamie joins in again, and they DOUBLE LARIAT SANDWICH! Then they set Skye up, and Jamie says let’s try this again!
Jamie runs the ropes, but Thekla slides in, BELT SHOT on Jamie!! No question that the ref saw that! The Triangle is disqualified!
Winners: Hikaru Shida & The Brawling Birds, by disqualification
The Toxic Spider doesn’t care about this win, she just wants to do damage! Skye gets Windsor in a DRAGON SLEEPER! The ref stops Thekla from sing the title belt again, so Thekla just takes off her own belt! And she LASHES Windsor while Skye holds her down! More refs rush out here, but Julia MISTS the newbie in the face! Julia stomps away on Jamie, not caring about fines or consequences, either! The fans boo, and Shida is bailing on the Birds? Shida cares more about her chances in that Fatal 4 Way than anything else. But then Willow, Mina, and even Thunder Rosa rush out here! They chase The Triangle off with belts of their own!
The fans cheer as The Babe, the Fighting Gravure Idol & La Mera Mera save the day. But will Jamie make sure Thekla and Shida pay for this at Double or Nothing?
AEW World Championship: Darby Allin VS Konosuke Takeshita!
They say “card subject to change,” and that is true even for the best in the world. Kazuchika Okada’s real family takes priority, but his Don Callis Family brother was more than happy to step up for this opportunity. Will The Alpha already have two belts by the time he and The Rainmaker battle over the International Championship? Or will Darby truly be relentless in his pursuit of being the best fighting champion in AEW history?
The introductions are made, THE belt is raised, and we see who goes to Double or Nothing on top!
Callis joins commentary to say that while Darby’s been breaking his own body, Konosuke has perfected “rejuvenation training,” aka relaxing on a beach and sipping sake! The bell rings, and Darby SHOTGUNS Konosuke out! Then Darby DIVES, but Konosuke catches him! Konosuke POSTS Darby, then THROWS him into railing! Konosuke THROWS Darby into the ring, the fans fire up for both guys, and Konosuke hurries to BOOT Darby off the apron! Darby falls in front of commentary but Konosuke gets him right back in the ring. Cover, ONE!! The fans rally as Darby shows his grit, but Konosuke snarls.
Konosuke drags Darby up, Darby fires forearms, but the ALPHA ELBOW knocks Darby down! The fans fire up while Konosuke looms over Darby. Konosuke stands Darby up, and THROWS him into a corner! Darby bounces off the buckles and is bleeding from the mouth already! Konosuke stands Darby up, hoists him up top, then he climbs up after him. But Darby BITES Konosuke, CLUBS him down, and leaps for a CROSSBODY, but he bounces off Konosuke! The fans fire up again as Konosuke whips Darby for a BACKDROP! Darby got serious hangtime there, and he flounders out of the ring. Darby coughs and sputters but the fans rally up.
Konosuke goes out after Darby but Darby SMACKS him! Konosuke KNEES low, KNEES him again and again and again! Konosuke KNEES Darby against the barriers, then refreshes the count. Konosuke whips Darby hard into railing! Darby sputters as he leans against the railing, but Konosuke positions the steel steps. Konosuke then fetches Darby, lines up a shot, but Darby fights the suplex! Darby CLAWS Konosuke’s back, then fires a shot. Konosuke DECKS Darby in return! Darby slumps against the steps, Konosuke runs up, but Darby dodges! Konosuke’s knees hit the steps and he tumbles over! Darby then runs up the steps to SHOTGUN Konosuke down!
The fans fire up while both men are down on the floor! Konosuke checks his knee before he crawls around, and Darby gets in the ring so he can build speed! Darby DIVES! Direct hit on Konosuke but Darby’s the one who hits the desk! The fans fire up while both men are down again, but Darby rises up to get Konosuke on the apron! Darby fires forearms, then goes up a corner! COFFIN- NO, Konosuke catches him for a SUPER BLUE THUNDER BOMB to the floor!! The fans go nuts again and Callis says that’s the end of Darby Allin, but Dynamite goes picture in picture.
The ref hurries to check Darby but Callis tells Doc Sampson to call it. Darby is somehow still in this, so Konosuke storms his way over. Konosuke drags Darby up, puts him in the ring, then paces around him. Konosuke runs the ropes to LARIAT! Darby flips inside-out, Konosuke covers him, TWO!! Darby still has fight inside but he’s also dazed. Konosuke clamps onto Darby with a chinlock and squeezes tight. Darby endures, even as Konosuke leans on him with his much-taller frame. Darby reaches out, fights around, and rises up, only for Konosuke to CANADIAN RACK BOMB! Darby sputters all over again while Dynamite returns to single picture.
Konosuke sits back as he watches Darby crawl to the apron. Konosuke storms his way over, but Darby RAMS low! Slingshot sunset flip, but Konosuke rolls through! Only for Darby to kick the legs out! Darby catches Konosuke to a GUILLOTINE! Konosuke endures the squeeze, fights up to his feet, and he powers out to THROW Darby! Darby lands out, fires shots, and RAMS low! Darby then hops on, but Konosuke stops Code Red! Konosuke swings Darby around, tucks him in, BASTARD DRIVER! And WHEELBARROW GERMAN! The fans fire up and Callis says that’s true power! Darby sputters again and Konosuke vows to end this.
Konosuke runs corner to corner, HELLUVA KICK!! Then he hoists Darby up top, climbs up after him, and goes to the very top! The fans freak out already for the SUPER DUPER GERMAN SUPLEX!! Bridging cover, TWO!!! Callis is freaking out as much as the fans, and he protests the count! Konosuke is furious, but he aims for the WAGAMAMA KNEE!!! Cover, TWO?!?! Darby survives by nanoseconds, and Konosuke is beside himself! “This is Awesome!” but now CLØN rushes out here! He distracts the ref, and Callis hurries to take the Dynamite Diamond Ring off his finger to put it in Konosuke’s hands! Konosuke thinks about it, but The Alpha has honor!
The fans cheer as Konosuke wants to do this his way! But then Darby runs up, cradles, TWO!! Konosuke escapes, ALPHA ELBOW!! Darby is down, dazed, but still moving! Konosuke drags Darby up again, goes back to the corner and back to the top rope. The fans hope these two “FIGHT FOREVER!” but it has to end somehow! Darby fights against the lift with headlock punches! Then he hops on, SUPER CODE RED!! Konosuke staggers up, Darby leg scissors, steps through, LAST SUPPER!! TWO?!?! Konosuke escapes again, then bails out! So Darby just goes up top! SUPER COFFIN DROP!! Direct hit and both men are down again!
The fans are thunderous as Konosuke and Darby stir. A ring count climbs, Callis complains that some people just gotta follow directions and run the play! Coach Callis pulled Konosuke outta obscurity, Konosuke would do anything! Now he’s got some gold, some fame, and gets a mind of his own! Callis complaining aside, the ring count is climbing! Darby drags himself in at 9, but Konosuke YANKS him back out! That refreshes the count, and Konosuke vows to end this for real now. Konosuke points to the steel steps, and he drags Darby up onto them with a deadlift RAGING- NO, Darby knees Konosuke, turns things around, and FULL METAL SCORPION DEATH DROP!!!
The fans go nuts again while Konosuke writhes! Konosuke flops off the steps, Darby crawls into the ring, and Darby just climbs the corner again! SUPER DUPER COFFIN DROP!!! Konosuke might be unconscious! Darby still hauls Konosuke into the ring, pushes him to a cover, TWO?!?!? Konosuke survives and Darby is furious! But Darby just reloads, COFFIN DROP but onto knees!!! Ghost pin, TWO!!! Darby escapes but the WAGAMAMA KNEE finds him!! Konosuke hauls Darby up, but Darby pops free! Trip, step through, and SCORPION DEATH LOCK!!! Konosuke endures, reaches out, but Darby sits deep!!
Callis says don’t even think about it! Konosuke almost does, but he bites his own thumb to ignore the pain in his back! Konosuke reaches out, crawls his way forward, and he fights to the ROPEBREAK!!! But Darby is right up top! COFFION DROP on the back!! Then Darby goes right back up, COFFIN DROP again!!! Cover, DARBY WINS!!
Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)
Callis is steaming, but Darby overcomes Konosuke to avenge that loss in the Continental Classic! But it also took so much out of him just to do it! Darby still asks for a mic and one is brought to him. Darby sits up against the ropes, has them cut his music, and he tells MJF to get his ass out here! There’s a contract MJF needs to sign! The ring crew hurries to bring in a table and some chairs for that very contract signing, and MJF makes his entrance. MJF reluctantly makes his way down the ramp, and both men meet at the table. Darby grins with blood still in hiss teeth, and he signs his part of the contract without hesitation, unlike MJF.
The fans already chant “BALD! BALD! BALD!” at MJF, and Darby pushes the contract to his side of the table. MJF grabs the pen, reaches out, but then steps away. MJF scratches his chin as he thinks on this, and the fans just chant, “BALD! BALD! BALD!” again. MJF takes a mic to say he’ll explain something to Darby, looking like he has rabies. But see, MJF is happy for Darby, he hopes Darby’s had fun holding MJF’s AEW World Championship. The fans boo that, but MJF says deep down, there is a small part of him, like the size of a North Carolinian p*nis small. That small part of MJF feels bad for Darby, because he’ll never hold this again!
Darby’s got about a good a chance of holding this title as Hangman Adam Page does again. MJF says guys like Darby are a dime a dozen, here today and gone tomorrow, stuntmen who burn the candle at both ends. In this life, people like all these fans here like to pretend that life is about making friends and family and children. The only thing that matters in life is your legacy. And Darby’s legacy will be that of the kid who had his 15 minutes of fame. They’ll pretend like Darby made a lasting impact, but the fact of the matter is, he hasn’t. He hasn’t! They’ll know deep down that Darby Allin was just a little pr*ck who got lucky.
They’ll know that Darby was too reckless and stupid to stay on top. And after May 24th, Double or Nothing, in that sh*thole of Queens, New York, y’know what MJF’s legacy will be? He’ll go down as the guy who became a THREE-TIME World Champion at just 30 years of age, unprecedented in this sport. And MJF will go down, when it’s all said and done, as the Greatest of All Time! THAT is the difference between them! Darby Allin brags about climbing a mountaintop. But when it comes to professional wrestling, Maxwell Jacob Friedman IS the mountaintop! The fans boo but MJF soaks it up. Darby tells MJF to SHUT UP!
Only someone like MJF who is so vain would think that the number one most important thing in this world is his legacy. Darby doesn’t care about legacy, he cares about living in the moment! And in this moment, Darby just wants MJF to sign the contract. Then at Double or Nothing, Darby makes Maxwell Jacob Friedman a BALLD HEADED B*TCH!! MJF frowns but the fans cheer that! MJF grabs the pen again, and with no choice, he signs on the dotted line! Then he TACKLES Darby! The fans boo as MJF beats up Darby after the war he went through with Konosuke! MJF CHUCKS an armchair outta the ring, FLIPS the table, then picks up his Dynamite Diamond Ring.
MJF puts the ring on his finger like always, then winds up to DECK Darby!! The fans boo but MJF just soaks it all up. MJF throws off his jacket, picks up the belt, and he stands over Darby with it. But then MJF isn’t done with Darby, he puts Darby on the top rope! MJF climbs up to join him, and drags Darby into position! But wait! Kevin Knight runs out here to chase MJF off! The Jet still owes The Scumbag a receipt, but it seems we’ll all have to wait on that. Will MJF still take back the title at Double or Nothing? Or will Darby keep the belt and take MJF’s dignity?
My Thoughts:
An awesome episode for Dynamite as things heat up towards Double or Nothing. Awesome 10 Man Tag to open, great win for the Faces, not that it added much to FTR VS C&C. Good promo from Jericho to look back on Stadium Stampede and hype up this year’s match. Good promo from The Demand with Davis and The Dogs, and I suppose this maximizes the feuds as well as the alliances throughout the locker room. Who knows who wins but the match will still be awesome, just as the original was. Good promo from Conglomeration, too, Cassidy & Roddy going after FTR while Kyle VS Moxley happens on the side, that’s great stuff.
Speaking of Moxley, great promo from him and Ospreay. Moxley’s semi-turn has really brought out his sage philosophical side. Great match from Ospreay VS Ace, and while Ospreay could always bring out his aggression, seeing him use more technical wrestling and even winning with a submission is good stuff. Good promo from Joe, and I liked Death Riders backing Ospreay up. Very good Owen Hart Cup brackets this year, Joe VS Ospreay is a great choice given this story, but I would think Ospreay wins that one. Good promo from Jack Perry to call out Davis, and I suppose Jack can win in the Owen Cup to then move on from the National title.
Great seeing Brian Cage back, he gave Knight an awesome match, but with JetSpeed wanting to go on a Two Man Power Trip, it makes sense Kevin won out. Same for Bailey beating Westbrook, even though Westbrook maybe went too hard on his own acrobatic escape. Great stuff in the Six Woman Tag, and I appreciate Shida didn’t ditch until after the match. Willow, Mina & Rosa might get their own Six Woman Tag with Triangle of Madness after that interaction, but also can’t wait to see if Willow can go back-to-back as Queen of Harts. For that matter, I personally would love to see Athena use the Owen Cup to move on from being ROH Women’s World Champion, but that depends on how Supercard of Honor goes this Friday.
And of course, another wild instant classic from Darby as he overcomes Takeshita. I knew the diamond ring would come into play with that reverse effect, good way of protecting Takeshita in the loss. Good stuff with MJF tonight, too, such as the opening segment’s parade of bald men to send the message to MJF. That was also a unique contract signing segment in that it came together so quickly after the main event match. Good stuff from MJF as always, and of course he attacks Darby. I feel like either Knight should not have made the save, or both parts of JetSpeed should’ve made the save. It just seems odd that only Knight cared about saving Darby. The closing moment was much better when it was MJF standing over Darby with the belt.
My Score: 9/10
