Stevie Turner speaks.
“Last week, Keanu Carver successfully defeated Brooks Jensen to become the #1 contender to Jackson Drake’s Evolve Championship. Unfortunately, due to the attack by Bryce Donovan after the match, Keanu suffered some broken bones in his left hand, and is now medically unable to compete at Succession. However, by the end of the night, I will find a suitable replacement, and Jackson Drake will defend his Evolve Men’s Championship at Succession.” The Prime Minister will see justice served, but who will now have the golden opportunity against The Carolina Reaper?
Chuey Martinez is in the ring.
Mic in hand, Chuey asks, “Evolve fam, how you feeling tonight, baby?” The fans cheer, and Chuey says history will be made next week when Evolve has its very first special edition, Succession! For the first time, both championships will be on the line, and on the same show! How’s that? Now, we’re about to bring out two women who are the epitome of Evolve, and they’ll go head to head next week for the title. Let’s bring out the challenger, Kendal Grey! The fans cheer the #1 contender as she makes her entrance, and she high-fives the front row before entering the ring. She and Chuey secret handshake, and then Chuey welcomes out the champion, Kali Armstrong!
The fans cheer as now the Pride of Inglewood makes her way out, and we get Difference Maker and Arm Breaker face to face. Chuey says, “What’s up, Champ?” They shake hands, and Chuey says Kendal looks ready to jump outta her skin, so what’s she got to say? Kendal says she’s got a lot to say. Kali thinks she’s so badass, huh? After what she did to Kendal’s bestie, Carlee Bright… It was physically impressive, Kendal will give Kali that. But mentally, Kali showed something different. Usually, Kali comes out here, all confident, letting her actions speak for themselves. But then she drew a line. Kendal is tired of seeing Kali so confident.
Instead of feeling confident going into Succession, Kali, you should know Kendal is gonna break you and take that title. The fans are torn, and Kali says hey, whatever Kendal has to do to make herself feel better, go ahead. So long as she brings her A Game to Succession, knock yourself out. Kali beat Carlee down like that because she could. Carlee’s a nice girl, full of sunshine and bubbles, but sunshine and bubbles don’t belong in a ring with the Difference Maker! At the end of the day, Kali taught Carlee something that Kendal’s known deep down all along: No matter how good you are, you’re just not as good as Kali Armstrong.
The fans are torn again, but Kendal tells Kali that what she’s saying is nothing Kendal hasn’t heard before. Kendal’s been doubted her whole life. She was the only girl on her high school wrestling team. She was told that she shouldn’t wrestle, that she’s not strong enough or big enough. She heard it all, but she’s still here fighting. And now we’re looking at a THREE-TIME undefeated National Champion! A perfect 61-0 record, qualified for the Olympic Trials at just 19! And now, she’ll be the girl to tap out #TooStrongArmstrong. The fans like the sound of that! Chuey asks Kali’s retort, and Kali says, “Oh, we talking résumés?”
Kali reminds us she is a THREE-TIME NCAA All-American at the University of Southern California. She is a world record holder in sprint medley relay! Or are we talking Evolve? If that’s the case, Kendal can’t compare! Kali is undefeated in singles competition! Or maybe just regular life? Once again, Kendal can’t compare, Kali comes from the struggle. This ain’t new to her. She is from Inglewood, the City of Champions! One of eight kids! Born with drugs in her system, almost didn’t make it, but she did cuz she’s a winner and that’s what winners do. She will go into Succession a winner, and she’ll walk out a winner, with Kendal hearing the words #AndStill your Evolve Women’s Champion, Kali Armstrong!
The fans are fired up, and Kendal says, “Then may the best woman win.” The two shake hands, but Kali pulls Kendal in as she says, “I intend to.” Kendal says, “Yeah, until you get caught in my armbar.” Chuey asks they settle down, save it for next week. But make some noise, fans, for Kendal and Kali! The fans cheer as these two are ready to go. But who will be the alpha female of Evolve after Succession?
Backstage interview with Tate Wilder.
Kelly Kincaid is with The Modern Day Cowboy and congratulates him on the big win last week. Beating Edris Enofe must’ve felt good, huh? Yes, that it did. Behind all the arrogance, Edris is one heck of an athlete. But Tate learned from his mistakes, finally got his hand raised, and proved he has what it takes to be here in Evolve and WWE. Now, this might sound crazy, but Succession is next week and everyone wants to put their name on the card. He knows he only has the one win, but something clicked, something felt different, the flame was lit, and- SOMEONE ATTACKS! “You wanna go? C’mon, Cowboy, fight!”
The refs rush in and drag Brooks Jensen off of Tate! The Lost Cause is clearly furious over his loss last week, and he looks to take it all out on Tate! Will Jensen end Tate’s win streak before it begins? Or will the Bad Man from Ala-Bam-Bam-Bama just get beat again?
It’s Gal VS Dante Chen!
He’s tanned, jacked, but hard to say if he’s ready to attack with all the moping he’s been doing. Though, it isn’t his sympathy for Jamar Hampton’s injury that’s the problem, it’s him somehow spinning it to say he’s even better than he thought. Will the Singapore Warrior bring Gal back down to Earth? Or can Mr. Mint Condition stay in mint condition?
The bell rings and the two tie up. They go around, the fans rally for Dante, but Gal puts Dante on the ropes. The ref counts, Gal backs off to flex and shout, “It’s Gal~!” Gal then shoves Dante, the fans boo, but then Dante headlocks Gal! The fans cheer, but Gal lifts Dante! Dante hits a flying takeover! The fans rally, Gal headscissors, and Gal taunts the fans with pushups! “It’s Gal~!” The fans boo more, but Dante kips free. Gal waistlocks, SLAMS, and he does pushups off of Dante! Gal facelocks, grinds Dante down, but the fans rally up. Dante rises, wrenches, and cording holds. Gal whips, Dante reverses, then Dante drops.
Dante hurdles, but Gal catches him to a fireman’s carry! Gal says this is light work, and he uses Dante for squats! Dante slips free and he shoves Gal! Dante wants to wrestle, but Gal says he’s getting in a workout! Check the thighs, dummy! The fans boo as Gal pumps himself up, but then Dante goes to flex. Gal stops Dante and says no one wants to see that! But the fans do! Dante gives a side chest! Then he blocks a kick! Dante spins Gal, ROCKS him, then flexes! The fans cheer and Gal is furious! Dante DROPKICKS Gal down! Then he dodges to BACKDROP Gal! Gal flounders, the fans fire up, and Dante winds up!
Gal runs away from Gentle Touch! But Dante rushes Gal at the ropes! Gal throat chops! Gal suplexes, but Dante lands safe on the apron to CHOP, CHOP, and LARIAT Gal back into the ring! The fans fire up, Dante aims, and Dante springboards to FLYING AX HANDLE! The fans fire up, and Dante runs in at the corner. But Gal picks Dante up to THROW him away! And then DISCUS LARIAT! Cover, TWO! The #Flexline didn’t finish this, but Gal says this is pretty ferocious, you dummies! Gal fires body shots, then ROCKS Dante! And LARIATS! The fans taunt Gal that he’s the dummy, but he whips and BOOTS Dante down!
Gal shouts, “Lemme show you the Stud Drop!” Gal goes up the corner, kisses his biceps, then leaps into an atomic drop! Gal staggers, but he runs back in, only for Dante to avoid the leg drop! Ghost pin, TWO! Gal escapes, ROCKS Dante, but Dante ROCKS Gal! Dante ROCKS Gal again, then hits a BIG atomic drop! Gal hobbles around, comes back, but into an ELBOW! And a LARIAT! Dante roars, and then he catches Gal to a HALF NELSON SLAM! The fans fire up, Dante winds up, SUPERKICK! Gal falls out of the ring, so Dante builds speed! Dante DIVES! Direct hit at the ramp! The fans fire up while Dante puts Gal back in the ring!
Dante springboards again, but Gal dodges! Gal UPPERCUTS in a corner, then U PPERCUTS, kisses the bicep, and UPPERCUTS again! Gal climbs up, rains down fists, but he stops at five just to shout, “IT’S GAL~!” Dante brings Gal off the corner to RUNNING POWERBOMB! The fans fire up with Dante, and he powers up! Gal rises, into the GENTLE TOUCH!! Cover, Dante wins!
Winner: Dante Chen, by pinfall
The Real-Life Action Figure kept playing games, but he just lost! Will Dante build momentum until he’s finally fighting for some gold?
Backstage interview with High Ryze.
Chuey Martinez talks with Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe and thanks them for their time. They’ve got Aaron Rourke & Marcus Mathers in tonight’s tag match, how’re they feeling? Tyriek says they’re gonna pop out, apply pressure, and show Evolve what they’re really about. Tyson says they’re gonna apply everything Wes Lee taught them and show everyone why they are not the ones to be stuck on the sidelines. Tyriek says they ain’t dumb, they have the greatest former North American Champion leading and advising them. They know what’s expected of them! Tonight, they prove a point! Time to pop out, brick by brick! High Ryze is ready, but will they really be better than The Finest?
The Vanity Project talks backstage.
The team is lounging as Jackson Drake says he thinks everything has been going swimmingly lately. Ricky Smokes likes that word. Drake wants to personally give each of them a statue in his likeness, so they can admire his chiseled jawline whenever they want. They deserve it. Brad Baylor says let’s be serious for just a second. Why does Stevie keep their guy, Jackson Drake, waiting? Succession is supposed to be The Vanity Project’s big crowning moment, and maybe it’s just Brad, but this feels like they’re messing with the champ. Zayda Steel asks who the heck is even the challenger, and Smokes says it won’t be “Crashout King” Keanu Carver, that’s for sure!
Smokes wonders if “Hillbilly Brooks” gest the spot. Swipe Right high-fives over the joke, and Drake says they all know Stevie’s waiting until the last minute to choose. But he thinks they should give credit where credit is due: Bryce Donovan took out Keanu! The Problem Solver indeed solved a problem, for once. Zayda says the whole locker room wants their shot, and Drake says there’s not a single man who can take him out. They know it and Vanity Project knows it. V’s up! They head out, and Drake asks if Brad really doesn’t want a statue of Drake. Smokes just isn’t sure where they’d put it. Zayda says it’d be a pain to make them anyway.
But wait, Bryce hangs back. The Enforcer has a smirk on his face for some reason… Just who will challenge #HeartbreakDrake for Succession?
Marcus Mathers & Aaron Rourke VS The High Ryze w/ Wes Lee!
The Open Challenge was issued and answered, and now Philly’s Finest & The Dime Piece are taking on the explosive duo Wes Lee has taken under his wing. But will Ty & Ty blow it up like TNT? Or will Mathers & Rourke use their aerial artistry to paint a masterpiece on the High Ryze?
The teams sort out and Igwe starts against Rourke. They tie up, go around, and Igwe SHOVES Rourke down. The fans rally for Rourke and he runs up, but Igwe picks him up! Igwe RAMS Rourke into the corner again and again, then taunts Rourke. But Rourke dodges to SPANK Igwe! The fans cheer, Igwe is mad, but Rourke dodges to DOUBLE SPANK! Rourke taunts Igwe, runs, and then dodges to RANA! Igwe stumbles, Rourke tags Mathers, and they double whip to drop toehold, basement DROPKICK, and then a cover, ONE!! Igwe is tougher than that, but then Mathers hits a HOUSE CALL! Cover, TWO!
Mathers is a bit annoyed, but he brings Igwe up. Igwe blocks the whip, blocks it again, then kicks low! Igwe whips Mathers to a corner, but Mathers goes up, up, and CROSSBODIES! But Igwe catches Mathers! And pops him around, but Mathers slips free! Mathers shoves Igwe, Dupont tags in, but Mathers dodges Igwe. Mathers then stops himself to BOOT Igwe, only for Dupont to HOTSHOT him! Igwe BOOTS Mathers down, Dupont stomps away, and then JUMP STOMPS! The fans rally for Mathers but Dupont pushes him to the corner. Tag to Igwe, and Igwe RAMS into Mathers! Wes mocks Mathers, Dupont tags in, and they DOUBLE FOREARM!
Mathers falls, the fans boo, but Igwe talks trash on Mathers. Mathers scowls but Dupont HOTSHOTS him again! Dupont SCRAPES Mathers’ face off ropes! Then THROWS him down by his hair! Cover, TWO! The fans rally but Dupont clamps on the shoulder claws! Mathers rises up, Wes says the fans re stupid for cheering, but Mathers fires body shots. Dupont ROCKS Mathers, he staggers back, and Dupont runs in for a SPLASH! Tag to Igwe, and Dupont feeds Mathers to a lift! Mathers and Rourke reach out, but Iwge SWINGING SIDE SLAMS! Cover, TWO! The fans fire up as Mathers survives, but Igwe CLUBS him for it!
Igwe clamps onto Mathers with a chinlock, but Mathers rises up. The fans rally as Mathers fires body shots! Igwe KNEES low! Igwe whips Mathers to the corner, but Mathers BOOTS Dupont! Then he goes up and over, Igwe POSTS himself! Hot tag to Rourke! The fans fire up as Rourke rallies on Igwe, and LEG LARIATS! Then a whip, but Igwe blocks! Igwe reverses, Rourke goes up and out, then he ROCKS Igwe! Rourke goes up, up, and METEORAS! Cover, TWO! Rourke is surprised, but he sees Dupont coming! Rourke hurdles, Dupont tumbles out! Mathers runs in, Dupont fireman’s carries, but Mathers slips free! HOOK KICK! The fans fire up as Mathers powers up, and he PLANCHAS! But Dupont catches him! And then LAWN DART off the apron! Wes says that’s what he’s talkinga bout! But Rourke PENALTY KICKS!
Igwe runs up, but into a GAMANGIRI! Rourke goes up, up, and MOONSAULT FLOPS as Igwe moves! Igwe runs up, TIMBALAND BOOT!! Dupont tags in, and we get the HEARTSTOPPER BOMB!! Cover, High Ryze wins!
Winners: The High Ryze, by pinfall
Wes steps in and raises his team’s hands in victory! Will no one in Evolve get one over on The High Ryze?
Jax Presley & Harley Riggins storm into Stevie’s office.
Gnarly Harley says he just knows the Prime Minister saw “that trash” with Cappuccino Jones & Jack Cartwheel. They get one win over the Blue Chippers and act like they won the Super Bowl or something! Jax says yeah, they want a rematch with the “scrawny assclowns!” Stevie asks why they’d want such a rematch. Didn’t they say they were gonna send Adrenaline Drip packing to the indies and that “flippin’ ‘n’ flyin'” wasn’t the answer to getting punched in the mouth? They gave you an answer, didn’t they? Harley tells Stevie- er, Miss Prime Minister to understand, that was a fluke. Jax says 99 times outta 100, Blue Chippers win! That was just Adrenaline Drip getting their one.
Harley phrases it now as, “Doesn’t the WWE Universe want the rubber match of all rubber matches? I mean, it’s the biggest match of MY career.” Stevie says this would just be his third match ever. So it’d just be his first rubber match ever. Still, that’s why it’s the biggest! If Stone was GM, he’d grant this match. Did he really just mention Robert Stone in Stevie’s office? Oh, but she sees what they’re up to now. They will have their match, but not because they brought up Stone. It is because she feels Adrenaline Drip deserves their chance to prove it was no fluke. Jax & Harley thank Stevie, and then apologize about the Stone thing.
The Blue Chippers head out, and Stevie grumbles about the implications of Stone being a better PM. But who will be the better team when Blue Chippers and Adrenaline Drip run it back?
Wendy Choo VS Nikkita Lyons!
She lost in the inaugural Women’s Evolve Championship Fatal 4 Way. She lost to Kylie Rae in a Last Woman Standing match. Then she lost to Kendal Grey in an I Quit match. And yet, with all this loss, Wendy has finally found her voice again! While everyone else is happy for her, #BigKatKita felt the need to bully Wendy just because. Will Lyons’ roar drown Wendy out? Or will the Sleepy Psycho silence her with a Dirt Nap?
The bell rings and the fans rally up already. The two tie up, Lyons powers Wendy to a corner, and the fans duel. Lyons lets off to pie face Wendy, but Wendy snarls. The two tie up again, Lyons puts Wendy in another corner, but Wendy goes up the corner to then FLYING ARM-DRAG! The fans fire up, Wendy smiles a sinister smile, and Lyons is weirded out. Wendy scurries up, goes after Lyons’ leg, but Lyons gets free. Lyon winds up but Wendy avoids the kick. Wendy headlocks, Lyons powers up, but Wendy grinds the hold. They go to a corner, and Wendy hits a FLYING TAKEOVER! Lyons fights around, headscissors, and she squeezes tight.
The fans rally, Wendy fights around, and she headstands! The fans cheer as she pops free, mocks the kitty cat, then headlocks! The fans cheer and Wendy laughs as she grinds Lyons down again. Lyons fights up, pulls a pigtail, then fires body shots! The ref reprimands, Lyons whips, but Wendy slips around to crucifix takedown! TWO, and Wendy DROPKICKS Lyons! Throat chop! And FLATLINER! The fans fire up as Wendy runs, SLEEPY ELBOW DROP! Cover, TWO! Lyons staggers to a corner, Wendy runs up, and she ROCKS Lyons! Wendy runs again, but Lyons FLAPJACKIS her off buckles! Lyons then winds up to SOBAT!
Wendy falls back against ropes, then falls out of the ring! Lyons storms right out after her, drags her up, and ROCKS her with a forearm! The fans boo but Lyons RAMS Wendy into the apron again and again! Then she puts Wendy in as the ring count hits 5 of 10. Lyons storms in and CHOKES Wendy on the ropes! The ref counts, the fans boo, but Lyons YANKS the ropes back to snap Wendy back. Wendy flounders to a corner. Lyons talks trash, and she storms up on Wendy. Lyons DECKS Wendy, then says, “Touch grass!” Emphasis on A S S as she hits a BRONCO BUSTER STINK FACE! The ref counts, Lyons swaggers, then she fireman’s carries.
Wendy fights free, Lyons ROCKS her first, then whips. BOOTY BUMP! Lyons snap suplexes, covers, TWO! The fans fire up but Lyons keeps Wendy down. Lyons reels Wendy into a CAMEL CLUTCH, with splits! The fans rally as Wendy endures, but Lyons talks trash. Wendy rises, but Lyons HIP DROPS her! Lyons drags Wendy up to HIP DROP but onto knees! The fans fire up and Wendy fires forearms! Wendy CHOPS, CHOPS, and Mongolian Chops! Then she dodges a shot to LARIAT! And LARIAT again! The fans fire up as Wendy whips, but Lyons reverses! Lyons scoops but Wendy RANAS free!

Lyons goes up, up, and VADER FLOPS as Wendy moves! Wendy hurries to roll Lyons, into the DIRT NAP!! LYONS TAPS, WENDY WINS!
Winner: Wendy Choo, by submission
Lyons just learned what happens when you push the wrong one! Wendy is going through a metamorphosis in heart, mind and body, but will she finally Evolve into a star?
Brooks Jensen speaks.
“Tate Wilder… While you’re icing up your injuries, I want you to listen to me. You represent the reason why I hate Evolve. While I’m over here, trying to figure out why I’ve been screwed out of the Evolve Championship so many times, my thought process keeps breaking cuz all I hear is you yappin’ about how you believe you should be on the biggest show in Evolve’s history, how you should be on Succession. Ol’ desperado, he gets one big victory, and he thinks he deserves the spotlight. That ain’t just inexperience talking, but that is plain stupidity talking! Succession should be MY showcase!
“So yeah, maybe I took it into my own hands and kicked your ass. But good news, cowboy. Next week, it’s gonna be me VS you. And we all know what happened last time. Let’s just say, uh, I won in convincing fashion, right? But somehow, it gets worse for you. Because next week at Succession, Tate Wilder VS Brooks Jensen… in a BULLROPE MATCH!” These cowboys are about to throw down, but who will prove they’re the sheriff of Evolve?
The Vanity Project heads to the ring.
Jackson Drake, shirt off and title belt on, leads the way for his team while the fans boo and give thumbs down. Drake, Swipe Right, Bryce & Zayda step into the ring where a table awaits. Drake sets the title down on the table, and there is already a mic and a contract waiting. Drake asks the fans all “simmer down,” but they boo instead. Drake says, “Well, we all saw this one coming, right? We all saw this coming. Stevie Turner, aka the number one Vanity Project hater, is gonna make me wait until the very last second to figure out who my new challenger is for the Evolve Championship at Succession.
“So, I’m out here with the rest of the Vanity Project. Who we got? Who’s it gonna be? Who’s gonna take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wrestle Mr. Evolve for the Evolve Championship?” SEAN LEGACY IS HERE! The fans fire up for “Super Sean” as he steps out on stage, mic in hand. The fans cheer him on as he says, “Jackson Drake, you and I have been rivals since the very first episode of Evolve. I mean, this started on the indies, to Evolve, and even through NXT! And man, Vanity Project, wow! You guys have been making my life a living hell! So I can’t think of a better way to take my ultimate revenge by taking away the biggest prize that you have, at our biggest show ever.”
The fans cheer, but Legacy asks, “Excuse me real quick.” Legacy looks to the camera and he tells Keanu that he knows Keanu is watching. “And when I beat Jackson Drake and you are cleared, I will give you-” EDRIS ENOFE ATTACKS! The fans boo as the EOE beats down Legacy, and then scoops him to SNAKE EYES off the railing! The fans boo and Vanity Project likes what they see as Edris CHOKES Legacy! Edris then drags Legacy up, takes aim, and THROWS Legacy into the tron! Drake loves it, but security rushes out here to drag Edris away! Drake then sarcastically says, “Damn. Well, that sucks. Bye, Sean!”
Vanity Project waves, and Smokes says Sean couldn’t even get to the ring. How did he think he could take the title from Heartbreak Drake? Brad says, “Hundos, kid, hundos!” Drake says no, no, listen. No more hundos, bros. What? Drake says time for BITCOIN, cuz they look like a million bucks! But who is the next challenger? There IS no next challenger! So instead, this is what we’ll do: Next week, for the very first time, they will have a Vanity Project Appreciation Night! The fans boo, but Drake says they’re gonna throw the biggest party Evolve has ever seen, because why not? Look at them! Real Deal Zayda Steel! Confidence and swagger, style and substance!
Then there’s Swipe Right, undefeated on dating apps and unmatched in Evolve. And then, there’s Drake. The man who is gonna take Evolve to the next level! The Carolina Reaper! The leader of- Wait, Bryce grabs the contract off the table!? The fans like where this is going but Drake says Bryce is in the way of the camera. Bryce snatches the mic now! And he tells Drake, “For once in your life, shut the hell up!” The fans cheer as Bryce tells Drake that he has been waiting a LONG time to say this: You are all the WORST HUMAN BEINGS he has ever met in his entire life!! Bryce says he is done standing in the background! He is done standing in the shadow of Drake’s ego!
Fans chant, “Thank You, Bryce!” Bryce continues by saying that Drake wants to call Bryce the weak link of Vanity Project? That’s fine. Solve your own problems from now on, because Bryce is DONE with them!! The fans cheer Bryce on, and then Bryce says that at Succession, he will be the NEW WWE EVOLVE CHAMPION!! The fans fire up, Drake is furious, and Swipe Right runs up! Bryce DECKS Smokes, he ROCKS Brad, and then he LARIATS Brad up and out! Then he TOSSES Smokes up and out! Then he grabs Drake to CHOKE SLAM him through the table!! The fans are thunderous, Bryce is all fired up, and he is finally his own man!
Bryce picks up the contract again, and he makes sure to sign on the dotted line! The fans again chant, “Thank You, Bryce!” Bryce drops the contract on Drake, but will he drop Drake on the mat to pick up the title? Or will the Carolina Reaper find a way to survive?
My Thoughts:
A great Evolve here, especially as the first-ever Evolve go-home episode. Very good faceoff from Kendal and Kali, though Kendal trying to get the last word made it a bit cheesy. Just leave it to the standard, “May the best person win,” and then the other person saying, “I will.” Jensen going after Tate is a bit surprising, but this is most likely an adjustment to Ridge Holland unfortunately being out with a foot injury. Either way, a bullrope match between these two will be solid stuff, it’ll really go a long way in helping Tate get up the ranks, and just showing what he’s capable of besides.
Very good match from Gal VS Dante, but I figured Dante would win to give Gal some comeuppance. Gal probably won’t be humbled by it, though, and will instead double down until someone else gets upset like Dante and they have a match. Good promo from High Ryze ahead of the tag match, and really good stuff. Solid win for High Ryze, but I’m a little surprised Mathers & Rourke haven’t gotten an Evolve win yet. Kinda relates to how I’m a bit concerned Jax & Harley are getting wins just cuz they’re the big guys. Jax & Harley did have a very good promo with Stevie, though, they’re definitely ahead of the curve on that. Blue Chippers VS Adrenaline Drip 3 will be great stuff, and personally, hoping Adrenaline Drip wins.
Very good match from Wendy VS Nikkita in the de facto main event match, and nice to see Lyons brought out some new stuff. But great win for Wendy, and clearly part of her Face turn is returning to the goofier persona she had before. I’m sure Wendy will take the long way back to the women’s title, and a Face Wendy might actually make a good champion. And then great stuff with the Vanity Project and the men’s title. Bryce’s smirk after the promo was definitely the giveaway to me, but really good swerve where Edris makes sure Legacy couldn’t sign the contract. Bryce breaking away from Vanity Project here and putting his name on the contract is good stuff, but I fear that this is the go-home math that leads to Drake winning.
My Score: 8.7/10

On this special 350th Episode of the show, the Big Five Project returns as we enter the year PC Tunney has been looking forward to for a very long time. 1997 is here and so to is the Attitude Era. More or less anyway. We begin what will surely be an epic run of episodes here on the Big Five Project with Royal Rumble ’97. It was a night that saw the WWE return to a stadium as over 61,000 fans packed the Alamodome in San Antonio to see the boyhood dream come true all over again as Shawn Michaels reclaimed the WWF Championship from Sycho Sid. But it was also the night that saw “Stone Cold’ Steve Austin capture the first of his three Royal Rumble wins, and the most controversial of all of them as Austin was eliminate, but the refs never saw it. Austin’s victory would set off a wild chain reaction of events that would completely shift the landscape for WrestleMania XIII. In reality, the entire evening was a who’s-who of huge players in WWF at the time, even if they still were not quite fully aligned with the gimmicks that would launch the industry into the stratosphere. It was an epic night in every sense of the word so come with us deep into the heart of Texas and celebrate as the Attitude Era begins to hit its stride with Royal Rumble ’97!

The Death Riders speak.
It was after AEW Dynamite on Wednesday that Jon Moxley said, “Every time I step into the ring with Kyle O’Reilly, I can’t find a way to win. It’s been failure after failure after failure. Kyle O’Reilly has tapped me out, twice. Ipso facto, Kyle O’Reilly will be the new Continental Champion. You might think. But the Jon Moxley of six months ago is not the same as Jon Moxley of today. Who I will be tomorrow is better than who I am today. Logic and strategy would dictate that I should stay as far away from Kyle O’Reilly as I can. Because there’s no doubt about it, Kyle, you have my number.
The thing about this Continental Championship, it’s good bait. All the dragons I wanna slay come right to my door. I will do what I’ve done for 22 years surviving in this business, Kyle: I’m gonna find a way.” The Maniac heads out, and Claudio Castagnoli steps forward to tell Brody King that Brody always brings the bark. But if he steps in the ring with Claudio in the Owen Hart Tournament, he better bring the bite. Pac then says, “Nobody gets special treatment. It doesn’t matter who you are, Death Riders against the world.” Daniel Garcia says yeah, let’s get it! Yuta repeats, “Against the world.” Marina Shafir tells the world, “Bring it, you p*ssies!”

Will Ospreay speaks.
It was also after Dynamite that The Aerial Assassin told Samoa Joe, “My apologies for not getting back to any of your messages, been a little bit busy training and getting myself ready for The Owen. Surprised to see you there in the opening round, mate. It’s gonna be a tough one. But if you can just bear with me for a hot second while I explain to you… Six months of my life got taken away from me, mate. Six months, I’ve been sitting in front of a TV screen, watching AEW, looking at it, trying to get my strength back in my arms, rushing to get back. That’s six months of frustration, six months of anger. And then I finally had my kill shot on Dynasty, and I lost.
“And ever since then, man, I’ve been struggling with my matches. Doc even stopped one for my own safety. I’m annoyed that I didn’t get revenge on Jon. But I’m more upset at the idea that I can’t be the guy that AEW put their trust in once upon a time. Regardless of how I feel about Jon, regardless of how I feel about The Death Riders, there’s nothing that I can say that’ll make people ever understand. But Jon Moxley is the Ace, he’s a soldier for this place. And while his methods might be sick, there are people who stand up to see him get elevated. So what could it happen with him in my corner?
“Joe, I’ve got nothing but respect for ya. Everything that you’ve done in this industry. Mate, you were in the match that made me want to become a pro-wrestler. But no one, no one, is stopping me from winning The Owen. And I find it very poetic that the man takt took away my old life has given me a second chance of capturing the world championship.” The Billy Goat is ready to become something more, but will Samoa Joe make sure Ospreay goes Double or Nothing and loses?

Backstage interview with Sammy Guevara.
Lexy Nair is with The Spanish God and brings up how he called out Darby Allin just last night at Supercard of Honor for the AEW World Championship. But just like last night, Sammy hushes “Chica” Lexy, and says, “Everybody’s Favorite Pillar is about to talk, so zip it and listen. Darby, I don’t need to call my shot against you because I looked through the history books, and history’s on my side. I’ve beaten you not once, not twice, not three times, I’ve beaten you four times. When I look at the history books, I’m a three-time TNT Champion while you, you’ve only held that belt twice.
“So I’m gonna beat you tonight like I’ve beaten you before. I’m gonna stamp my ticket to Double or Nothing, and MJF, I know you’re watching, you sociopath. I’m gonna beat you next week and I’m gonna shave you BALD! But don’t worry, I’ll give you a nice little fade. Because I am the best! I am the best wrestler, I am the best talker, I am the best this planet has! I’m the Spanish God, dammit! I’m number one, I’ve been here since day one, and there’s only one way this is gonna go: With me as the NEW AEW World Champion! Darby, your time is up, and my time is now. Because I am Numero Uno. That means ‘number one.'”
Sammy heads out, but is his big head only going to get in the way tonight?
Backstage interview with Darby Allin.
Collision returns and Lexy is now with said AEW World Champion. She brings up the five title defenses in 21 days, an AEW record! But tonight is number six against someone Darby’s known for a long time in Sammy Guevara. Darby says when he showed up today, he asked if anyone had seen MJF yet. Then he thought, “What a stupid question. Of course he’s not gonna be at Collision.” MJF is not a company man, he only cares about himself. And those same people asked back, why is Darby back? Why is Darby defending his title again? Double or Nothing is next Sunday, why is Darby risking losing this? Because Darby loves this!
And if there’s anyone in this company as crazy as Darby, it is Sammy Guevara. Darby loves it! Darby realizes this could all end tonight, and Speedball wants his match on Wednesday? Well, if Darby walks out here tonight, then on Dynamite, it’s Showtime! Darby thanks Lexy then heads back out. Will the Relentless Reign be an unstoppable one? Bowens says if you’re asking what this change of attitude is about… This man, Samoa Joe, has been teaching Bowens all he needs to know: choices have consequences; and if you don’t like the way the table is set, you flip that table over and you choose violence! The fans cheer, and now Joe speaks on the mic. “Oh, Ospreaaaay~…! Do you understand what I do for my friends? But unfortunately, decisions have consequences, and you chose a different road, Will. Joe & Bowens have made it clear that no matter who, no matter where, and no matter what, The Opps will not show mercy. Will nothing stop The Opps from taking it all here in AEW?
Backstage interview with #Brodido.

AEW hears from the four fighting for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Kris Statlander says, “At Double or Nothing, I face three women, one who I hate, one who I respect, and one who I’m still not sure about.” The hated one, Thekla, says there’s only one way this ends when she’s up against dumb b*tch after dumb b*tch after dumb b*tch. The respected one, Jamie Hayter, says she had the title stripped away from her and it’s eluded her ever since. And the uncertainty, Hikaru Shida, says even though it is every one for themselves, she knows she and Kris will be on the same page, just like always! Kris says y’know who really has her back? Kris herself! That’s all she needs! Jamie warns Thekla that she’s gonna find out, unfinished business is her favorite kind!
Thekla says Double or Nothing, the Toxic Spider destroys New York! A Fatal 4 Way of epic proportions await, will there be nothing left after the dust clears?
Backstage interview with Athena and Mina Shirakawa.
Lexy Nair is with the ROH Women’s World Champion and the Fighting Gravure Idol, and thanks them for accepting the No Physicality Agreement. They are on a collision course in the opening round of the Owen Hart Tournament, this has gotta be a tough one. Athena says maybe, maybe not, but the facts are this: Athena has been the ROH Women’s World Champion for over 1252 DAYS, and has left of dozens of bodies in her wake. Pretty sure Mina’s one of them. Mina says last year at All In, Athena broke Mina’s hand. Athena says so what! Last year at Death Before Dishonor, she kicked Mina’s ass all over the arena! Why does Mina think this match will be any different?
Mina laughs and says last night at Supercard, when she locked in the Figure Four on her opponent, she dreamt it was Athena. Athena says Mina is dreaming of her! So flattered! But she hopes Mina has the best dream tonight: Mina’s dead body in a ditch, next to her precious Toni Storm! Mina tells Athena that Mina has dreamt of winning The Owen and the AEW Women’s World title, while ending Athena! She can’t dream anymore, because now she will live it! Athena says sure, sure. They argue, but Lexy keeps them from getting physical! Will the Fallen Goddess be unstoppable even in AEW? Or will The Owen will be about #MinaNow?
Backstage interview with Lio Rush.
Nigel McGuinness tracked down The Problem Child, and walks over. Lio says hey, Nigel! Good to see you! He saw Nigel put in that work last night, he did great. He did really good. Nigel appreciates that, that’s what he wants to talk about. Specifically, what happened between Lio and his former tag team partner, Action Andretti. Action cost Lio the ROH World TV Championship, what is Lio’s response? Lio says it’s all fine! It’s fine! These things happen, Nigel. Losses happen, friends get upset. It’s fine. It’s fine. Lio keeps saying that, and Nigel says that is the official response. Lio again says it’s good to see Nigel.
But then Lio takes off his sunglasses to show off those creepy eyes. He smiles, and that black goo drools out… Lio continues to say it’s fine, but is it anything but fine? Or should Action learn to sleep with one eye open?

Backstage interview with Anna Jay.
Lexy Nair is with the Queenslayer and commends her on that great return match against Willow Nightingale a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to stop the Comeback Killer. Anna gives all the respect to Willow, her moves hurt. Maybe Anna dove into the deep end, but she didn’t drown. So while Willow is still TBS Champion, maybe Willow isn’t quite the Comeback Killer. Anna came back, is still here, and there is still a lot left for them to do. And by that, she means her and Tay Melo! Anna tells if they wanna find out what that is, #JustTryUs! TayJay is back again, but are they going to fight their way right to the Divine Dominion’s tag titles?

The Spanish God still has the ROH World Tag Team Championship around his waist, but he wants even more gold to show off to his wife and daughter! Who gets what they want tonight to then head for Queens, New York?
As he makes his entrance, Sammy brings a table out from under the ring and sets it up ringside, planning ahead for the wild fight he and Darby are about to have! Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)
As if his reign wasn’t wild and reckless before, Darby just doubled down with Sammy here tonight! And yet, he’s now set for a showdown with Speedball in Portland! Will no one and nothing stop Darby Allin from doing this again and again? Or is he about to write a check his body can’t cash?
My Thoughts:
A great Collision that not only fed Double or Nothing but did a great job following up ROH Supercard of Honor, assuring fans that ROH does matter after all, despite the lack of building contenders and therefore new champions. I mean, Athena is STILL champion, even when Survival of the Fittest was the best way to dethrone her while protecting her. But good interaction from Athena and Mina ahead of their Owen Hart Cup match, and if Athena is going to still be champion even now, she might as well just be a finalist already. On the other end, it’d be great if Willow also got to the finals to potentially be a two-time Queen of Harts.
Speaking of Willow, great promo with Conglomeration, great match with Red Velvet, but with Velvet still the ROH Women’s World TV Champion, it makes sense that Willow retains her title. Great Six Man Tag from Conglomeration VS Shane Taylor Promotions, and The Conglomeration’s win helps them build momentum towards all their stories. Very good promo from Kyle, very good promo from Death Riders, and I feel like Kyle should at least last the 20 minute time limit to earn his title match with Moxley for Double or Nothing. Meanwhile, Cassidy & Roddy are NOT winning against FTR, FTR has to settle things with Cope & Christian first.
Ciampa going after Briscoe, that whole brawl, and then Briscoe upping the ante for Dynamite, that No Disqualification match is going to be awesome. Very good tag match of Joe & Bowens VS Lethal & Lee, with a good win for The Opps. Very good promo from Joe & Bowens after, and a very good promo from Ospreay, too. Joe VS Ospreay could be a show stealer, but I would think Ospreay wins so that his story with The Death Riders can be part of the Owen Cup. TayJay being back together is great, and I can see them going right at Divine Dominion and easily lasting the five minutes to then earn their title match later on.
Great Six Man Tag of Davis & Dogs VS Rascalz, but with Stadium Stampede looming, naturally Davis & Dogs won to bring momentum for their team. I’d expect The Demand to have their own tune-up for the three-hour super show go-home next week, but they might’ve announced that tonight if that were the case. Very good promo from Lio Rush to further this Jekyll & Hyde/Smeagle & Gollum type of gimmick for him. For those who didn’t watch Supercard (or haven’t read my article on it), Action Andretti turned on Lio Rush and partially blamed Lio’s new dark side for it. RIP CRU, we hardly knew you, but Action VS this Lio is going to be great stuff between AEW and ROH programming.
And of course, another insane instant classic from Darby Allin as he and Sammy use No Count Outs to get hardcore. Good bit of selling from Darby to tease his body giving out on him, but naturally he wins out. They might do a similar spot during his match against Speedball on Wednesday to make it seem MJF has a chance of taking the title at Double or Nothing.
My Score: 8.9/10
